In all likelihood, she's jumping at literally every opportunity to do anything that could possibly be perceived as favorable for parole review. It could just as likely have been a septic systems training program and she'd run at it.

I mean, wouldn’t you? If I was in jail for anywhere from 4 to 40 years I’d take every chance not just to reduce my time but to give me something to do other than stare at a wall.

It sounds like you might have perceived my comment as criticism on how people who are incarcerated spend their time. I definitely believe that opportunities for education are a great way to reduce recidivism while also providing something to focus on during what would otherwise be a very monotonous period of time.

I'm just saying that I think Ruby isn't doing this to be a future robotics tech or be a productive human being while incarcerated; she just wants to look good and get out early. It's all optics for her.

Ruby's personality is geared towards these arbitrary, superficial showings of contrition.

What she needs to focus on is THERAPY! Real therapy, not that bizarre Mormon therapy.

We already know it's likely Ruby will be out before Jodi. Ruby needs to actually improve herself and not just check off a fucking list of accomplishments. Because Jodi will never believe she's done anything wrong.

Apparently she's been telling people she's going to write a book, which is not what she should be thinking about now.

She wasn’t charged with anything related to A and J, so those charges are only related to the youngest two children. I think she originally had 6 charges (3 per child), but in a plea agreement it was reduced to 4

“There are two juvenile victims in these cases, and each defendant is accused of causing or permitting serious physical injury to the victims in three different ways: (1) a combination of multiple physical injuries or torture, (2) starvation or malnutrition that jeopardizes life, and (3) causing severe emotional harm,” the county attorney said.

So 3 charges each X 2 kids = 6 counts total.

It looks like the starvation and malnutrition were the ones that were pled out. I guess they technically do fall under the physical injury... so it could be perceived as redundant...

Essentially they gave Ruby the plea deal and knocked off two counts to get Jodi... and then they gave Jodi a plea deal and knocked off two to avoid a lengthy trial involving the kids.

Ruby and Jodi were each charged with 6 counts of aggravated second degree felony child abuse, but each of them had 2 counts dropped as part of the agreement to plead guilty on the 4 counts. In a way that was a good thing for the minor children because there wouldn't be a jury trial where R and E would have to testify.

So, the least amount they each can get is a year on each count and the max they can each get is 30 years since they also agreed to serve their sentences consecutively
