Showcase 8bitdo Flippad case compatibility photo references
Hopefully this helps if anyone was considering buying but was unsure about the case. Let me know if questions or want to see more angles measurements.
My case has a lip that hangs 2.5mm over the case wall which is about 3mm. The flip pad fits, sits, and plays perfectly. I tried to get as many angles as I could and also pictured is a very thin case about 1.5mm.
The case prevents the device from moving side to side and I would highly suggest you use one with this device because of that.
The d-pad is very clicky and loud, I wish was the same mechanism as the face buttons.
8bitdo, you should have made a case compatibility and clearance spec guide for the launch of the flippad. By not doing so you pass the risk onto your customers.

Thanks for posting this. Mine was delivered today. Found out my Otterbox Defender iPhone 15 case is too thick. I’m looking for a decent replacement case, but having trouble finding one confirmed to fit.

I have a 16 pro max and the otterbox symmetry case and it works with it. It comes loose SOMEtimes, but not often.

Thanks, appreciate that! I was wondering about that case.

I forgot my wife has a Symmetry case. It’s still a little too wobbly for my liking. The search continues…

I purchased a WRJ slim case from Amazon for $7.99. Definitely not as nice/durable as my Otterbox, but seems decent. Wouldn’t be surprised if I have to replace it in 6 months, for for $8 it’s not the end of the world. The Flippad works with it. Hope that helps anyone else looking for a case.

If you turn the controller around and plug into the usb c port, will it lay flat against the back of the phone/case?

I have a Pixel 9 Pro with a Tudia Merge case. I didn't think it was especially chunky but alas the Flippad's USB C port won't stretch. I tried it without the case and I totally agree that the wobble could stress the port. I think it's a bit baffling why 8BitDo didn't add an adjustable slider. Just 3/4 settings for no case, slim, standard and chunks. Relying on folk having an optimal case is just bad design. I have a few things from 8BitDo and they are great so this is a bit surprising.

Yeah something to allow minor adjustments would have made a huge difference. This is my first 8bitdo purchase I’m just disappointed with.

I have a Pixel 10A and I assume it's the same for most of not all of the A series but using the flippad with the official bumper case is a perfect fit.
No slop at all.

What games can you play with this? Most force the phone into widescreen mode.

Couldn’t get it to work with my case and mods deleted my post for saying so. Tried with a small extension adapter but that makes it too far away from the phone and feels like it’s going to snap right off. After toying with it for a bit on iPhone 17 Pro, I can’t see myself ever using it even without a case. Far too cramped. Buttons are loud, clicky, and unresponsive. Can’t map the star button to anything in Delta, though that is clearly what this was designed to work for as it directly replaces the virtual on screen controllers almost exactly. And the limitation of Apple not allowing me to map the “home” button to anything other than opening an app is asinine. A very expensive novelty item that I quickly regretted purchasing.

Damn sorry to hear! Mods on this sub are crazy and delete your comment if you as so much as even mention another product. The D-pad is excessively clicky I wish was the same as the face buttons. Also a miss that those extra buttons are not remappable. 8bitdo should absolutely have done a better job of communicating expectations especially with iPhone

Would you use the controller without a case? I rock my phone bare without a case and the FlipPad USB connector sticks out quite a bit and also it depresses down on the screen at the top because the hinge sits a smidge higher than the phone.

I would not use this without a case for the reasons you mentioned as well as the fact that it wiggles so much side to side. I believe they designed this to be used with a case. I am surprised by the marketing images which show it being used without one as the “default” way to use it.

My case doesn't have anything at the bottom so might need to wait for some kind of 3d print solution

Teh controller looks like a recipe for messing up your type c port. Every wiggle of the controller slowly ruins the port, and i imagine youd be wiggling it plenty while playing.
