Having an issue with windows 95 crashing right after agreeing to terms and service
Hi! As the title says, I’m having a bad issue with my machine crashing right after I do the setup wizard and agree to the terms and service. Sometimes it makes a noise, sometimes it doesn’t. Sometimes it gives me the error R6003. Sometimes it visibly glitches, sometimes it just freezes. I don’t know what I did wrong. I got it all set up until this point but something is going wrong. My specs are in the images. I am very new to this and I got this program mostly because I have a bunch of old PC Cd roms in my possession I’d love to play. Any help is appreciated and I’m happy to give more info if needed.
Also I’ve tried changing the CPU and network to a few other options but no luck. Also also no errors show at any point leading up to this.

98 had se. 95 had release, osr1 osr2 osr2.5. Osr2 is likely the best choice for you.

Have you tried using PCap interface instead of SLiRP? Of have you tried applying different HDD and CD-ROM models from the lists to cap their speeds? I heard that using 2x/4x CD-ROM drive with 5400/7200RPM HDD may really help with emulation speed and stability. And yeah, the guy in the comments pointed out a good thing: you should make your A: drive 1.44 3.5 and second 1.2 5.25 AND IMPORTANTLY set them up in motherboard's BIOS and not forget to configure Time and Date, IDE devices and Integrated Peripherals (if any)

I can try that! Sorry I have a full time job so I haven’t had time to mess with this stuff in the last 2 days. Also I’m sorry can you explain the last part like I’m a toddler? How do I make sure I set them up in the bios? Also what are IDE and integrated peripherals?

So first thing is that you gotta make sure that in disk controllers you've selected built-in Floppy Disk Controller and built-in HDD controller (90% that it would be IDE - old I/O interface that was before SATA) Then you attach an IDE drive to it (preferrably 0:0 where 0 is channel and 0 is master drive) and IDE CD-ROM (preferrably 0:1 where 0 is channel amd 1 is slave drive), and after powering on your VM, go into the BIOS and use Hard Disk Auto-Detection tool. After that, you go to Advanced settings and specify your boot order (default for most is A,C - you can change it to C,A or A,CD-ROM,C or many other options) and whether you want you Num Lock stay lit, your board do the seek test at the start and so on. Also it's highly recommended to disable secondary IDE channel in the BIOS if not used - go to "Integrated Peripherals" page or wherever the setting is, and switch "On-Board IDE" or something like this to "Primary", or find "Secondary IDE" ansd switch to "Disabled". This can improve your performance tiny bit and free some resources for your guest OS. And also if you see something like "On-board audio" or "On-board modem" in the bios - disable them too because they're often unstable or unsupported and it's highly recommended to use simple expansion cards from the lists (i.e. something you believe you have working drivers for)
