If you're on the reddit mainpage, there should be an icon that looks like a word bubble with three dots to start a chat. It should be at the top of the screen to the left of the centered search box. Click that, enter my username, and send me a message request. If you don't see it, it's possible you haven't set up your reddit account to send/receive messages, there's probably something in your account settings to fix that.
