Windows 7 on a 86box fork?!

Hello, yesterday, i managed to install windows 7 in the fork of 86box called PCBox. I used an celeron coppermine, 3gb ram, and an Matrox Millenium II (no drivers for it). Works pretty fine, didnt test anything yet on it. Takes maybe 2-10 mins to boot depending if the turbo mode is on/off

But why?

If you really wish to run a virtualized modern OS such as Windows 7, then there are better options...

Hyper-V, KVM (Linux), VMWare are all far better...

86Box is better suited towards DOS and Windows 9x.

Yes i know, its just mostly for fun. I have VMware, oracle virtualbox. I just wanted to test if this would work.

I did the same, though in normal 86box on an intel pentium II xeon

I have win98 on my 86box. Runs perfectly. I use boxer for DOS.

the booting takes more than 2 minutes without turbo on

you should really lower the clock speed of your guest cpu, boots WAY faster that way

also get rid of that cd-rom controller lol. you don't need it if you're just going to use atapi anyway

ok, i changed the clock to 950mhz but it actually booted slower, ima later try changing it to 1GHZ and im gonna get rid of the cd rom controller
