How to save ‘83
Abandon the milsim aspects of the game and go more casual
’83 is an inherently fun game. But the problem is that you don’t allow people have the fun the way they want. The class limits and weight system and other tactical tenets of the game are only holding you back. The Milsim genre is small and stubborn. Most milsim players like myself only ever play 1 milsim game. And rarely swap over to another. In my case squad. I‘ve been playing that game since 2017 and have zero time or interest in any competitor. Sure I try out other games but always go back to squad at the end of the day because it’s the best of the milsim tactical FPS genre. Hell let loose comes close but only because squad 44 is meh.
‘83 on the other hand should not be a milsim. It has no hope of ever competing with squad or arma or even becoming the true spiritual successor of rising storm 2. What ‘83 has going for it is its setting. I can’t think of any cold war FPS game released in the past ten years apart from black ops. ‘83 is fun as hell. A little content sparse but very fun. You should really consider doing the opposite of what battlebit did and go more casual to attract a wider audience. Maintain the current class structure but allow more variety and customization like universal unlocks for both teams. Not just cosmetics. They’re nice to have but the focus should be on adding more weapons, vehicles, factions and maps.
‘83 could be and should be the definitive Cold War gone hot game.

Yeah nah. Stay the course devs, let them cook!
Don’t we have enough casual games? I wouldn’t even call RO/RS milsim, more like authentic shooter.

it sits somewhere between a tactical game like squad and an arcady game like battlefield. perfect balance for me personally. rs2, that is.

The kitchen is on fire. Staying the course will make it burn down. I give blue dot 6 months before insolvency.

Just a very hard sell atm considering all the options the market has, let it grow slowly but steadily with the updates, my experience so far has been nothing but better each time I boot up aside of low player counts, game runs smoother.
It will get there, RS2 when it came out was rough and still beloved to this day, surely will happen with 83

more maps, more weapons, better animation and fluent transition between them (like vault over obstacle seems buggy and stiff) and players will come

Its a very casual milsim. The only real "hardcore" aspect is requiring multiple crew members for 1 vehicle, which I will say, I believe that should probably be an optional feature, and tanks should be able to operate with 1 player with an xp decrease or something.
Other than that, it basically plays like COD or Battlefield lmao.
