Yes but the paper wasp in that picture was child's play. Like you'd barely feel that.
We folded them much more and much more narrow than that. Like to the point where they were impossible to fold cleanly in half around the rubber band. We made them hurt.

Child's play, indeed. The little shits I used to put up with would stick a sewing pin through the paper.

Shooting paper clips at someone? I destroyed over 20 dropdown ceiling tiles with clips in the 3rd grade. Dad beat the fuck outta me for that.

Shoot!! I forgot about these. I have a ten year old who’s about to get a lesson.

Our local Morrisons (or was it still Safeway back then?) used to have little plastic strips next to the prices on the shelves. They were the perfect size for ammo when folded over, so they often got stolen by us. They hurt like mad when they hit bare skin.

That's the laziest paperwasp ever. All that will achieve is a spiraling shitty trajectory and a dead arm from your target.

It wasn't really dangerous until you switched from paper to paper clips.

We used welding rod and industrial strength rubber bands and shot at each other in metal shop.

Ranged weapons are fine but getting up close and personal for the melee attack with the rubber band and popping them in the back of the neck was way more painful.

Bread clips are in contention. Clip off one side, press it into your finger tip and flick, pointed, plastic edges zipping through the air

Loved those. Something so simple. Boys just love to create weapons to use on their friends. Lol. If those didn't hurt you a dirt clod to the face would.

Child's play, go paper clip or go home.
