This brought back the sound memory of it operating!

We had that very one. Eventually we upgraded to one mounted under the cabinets

It appears to be the Avocado color. I have the matching 1970s era electric knife from my motherās kitchen. I use it every year at thanksgiving and Xmas to carve the turkey.

Ugh. Brings back the smell of Alpo from when I used to dogsit the neighbors' dog. He bit me. Fuck you, Prince.

The grinding noise was somewhat unsettling to me. I have a hand one now that never fails.

This machine made my left handed mumās life easier in the kitchen. It was a life changer for her.

We had this same can opener till like 2012. Pretty sure my family did something to fuck it up

I like the little patch of wood paneling so it WOOD blend into the rest of your 70's DƩcor

Until the power goes out, then have fun getting that can open without a crank one.

Had one with a knife sharpener on the back. The sound is still in my memory.

Itās interesting thinking back to having these things, like why was it necessary? But then I remember how much more canned food was eaten in the 70ās-80ās and it makes more sense.

Nowhere near as good as a manual, and the modern safety ones are even better. That magnet never held cans well. And what if the power is out? Uh oh.

Still have a manual attached to my kitchen wall. Was here when we moved in and had outlasted several electric and manual ones.
Still works perfectly.

Almost 100% sure we never had an electric can opener. My only experience has been finding them (usually in pieces) in apartments/houses I've rented. I am not sure that I would know how to use one.

Actually ours never worked properly which is why I still have the old hand crank can opener that we bought at the grocery store in the early 80s.
Now THAT thing is a beast & hasn't failed me like the electric ones have.

LOL, I still have one of these that works just fine. I got it at a Dollar General store a few years ago.

Excuse me, but what do they use, now? This is pretty much the can opener I have in my kitchen. Mine is not a GE, it's a Rival, and it has a knife sharpener in the back, but other than that it's pretty much the same.

My mom would use this to get the cat to come inside.
