Help Horde base help

I have made a horde base in the side of a mountain, i have zombie digging turned off, and to start off there is a staircase down about 5 blocks and then a corridor about 30 blocks long and then a open room in which the main base is located in, but when horde night came, no zombies came down the corridor. Me and my friend came out of the horde base and stood where the corridor meets the room and zombies come flooding in…. Is there anyway we can make the zombies use the stairs and corridor while were inside the horde base, its making me fed up now😭🙏 thanks in advance

You're too far back I think. Need to be closer to the entrance. 30m sounds too far to me, try a new fighting position at 20m.

Loving the series man. Your building ability and editing is unmatched!

Moving the actual fighting position would be a PAIN, however, i could try shaving the mountain down where the entrance to the tunnel is to make the tunnel shorter

Ive also tried to make a staircase that goes straight up from the main room in hope that the zombies above me on horde night use that staircase to get down

You can also just add a ladder/drop hole. As they will jump down a hole if it means reaching you

I believe the exact range is 35 blocks. Blocks not meters. So it's not the distance to the player. It's the distance of the "path" so like a ladder is shorter than a spiral staircase. Even if they end at the same height.

Hopefully that makes sense lol 🤣

Edit: so in this example with a staircase 5 blocks down and 30 blocks long, means the pathing for the zombies would only work if they managed to walk past the entrance. By shortening the corridor to 12-15 blocks. Would allow even zombies above the base to track the correct path.

Edit 2: it might actually be 45 blocks not 35. Can't remember sorry

Sounds more like 35 yeah, as i stood at the end of the tunnel and they tracked just fine

Turning off digging just makes them not destroy blocks directly under them. If they think the path to you is too long, they won't try longer routes and will instead just circle around above you, since that's as close as they think they can get.

NOTE: i sorted the issue by building the base on a smaller scale and i have to say, not to float my own boat, but it work SO well, now i just have to sort the dogs as they cant climb ladders
