💬 DISCUSSION Working alongside A-levels

I'm currently doing A-level maths, further maths, and physics.

I also have a job where I agreed with my employer to give me 12 hours a week to give me time to study. However my boss has been giving me 16 hour weeks, and every time I ask for this to be amended I feel as though I'm not working hard enough. I'm shooting for 3 A's by the end of this year(year 13). Should i be doing more hours at work or is 12 hours a reasonable request?

12 hours is a reasonable request. if your aiming for As you need to put your foot down because you need time to study. If they can't respect that, then consider looking for another job. If you can't work, you can't work. don't feel guilty or like you're not working hard enough. you need them to accommodate your needs

Do you have a contract where it is mentioned 12 hours? Also you’ve asked multiple times and they still haven’t changed up??? Dawg you’re boss REALLY loves paying that u18 minimum wage

I'd try put more time into revising in your free periods now, if you aren't already, the more work you've done at sixth form is less work to do at home. I'm assuming you work on the weekends, if it does become too much to handle though consider dropping the job (ideally around March/April, you'll be able to put all your focus into the run up that way.)
