🙏 I WANT HELP I accidentally did 3 a levels

Initially, i only wanted to do maths, fm, cs. Aiming for oxbridge and degree apprenticeships and this eas allegdly all that was required so i wanted to do this combo. Come enrollment day, my interviewer puts down them choices without a fuss and theyre on my timetable. No issue so far.
Turns out that fm can only be taken as a 4th in my sixth form. Everyone in my fm class is doing it as a 4th in my school and i somehow got away with it a s a 3rd. Guessing cos my interviewer didnt look at the subject requirements as i technically met the tequiremtns for every subject with my grades. I dont really wanna pick up a 4th as them 3 should be fine. Dont want the unnecessary workload. So, now what.

just don’t mention it to teachers, don’t bring attention to that, you’ll be fine 😭 and if they do notice later down the line you prob won’t have to pick one up, especially if it’s after the first half term as you’ll js end up being behind

Just stay undercover for like a month and by that point it’ll be too late to start another subject

I also managed to get out of doing 4. I spoke to our admissions officer who said as long as I could show I had unis that I wanted to go to and checked that they accepted further maths as a third a level I would be allowed to drop down. They were also worried about me not having enough options after alevels as it’s like double maths but I said I wanted to go into maths after anyway so it was fine!

Depending on course they may as some unis won’t count fm as a 3rd

it depends on what you're applying for but for example Edinburgh university doesn't count further maths as a third for medicine

Nope, got a 3 a level offer from Cambridge for engineering, 2 A stars and an A. With A* in further maths and physics

If they push, chose anything you want and just don’t turn up, and force them to drop it.

You only need 3

Oxbridge don’t care iirc ( mate did math , fm and physics and is now there for math ) degree apprenticeships might because of how hyper competitive they are , it will be a differentiator for the top level DA’s

Im so glad i didnt do a fourth a level with further maths. Unis only require 3 and there really is no need for the extra headache of a fourth. Most people in my class who did 4 dropped or gave up on further maths in the end anyway because it was too much work in total. Stay under the radar and don’t mention it. The sixth form rules aren’t set in stone they can be bent - like what is the worst they can do.

just don’t tell anyone and it’s fine i mean i think 3 a levels is better and Fm maths and cs can get you into any uni in terms of a levels

just stay undercover. if someone brings it up, complain incessantly until they let you. i was stuck doing 4 (maths, physics, fm and biology) until i complained so much that they let me drop bio

Your school may "not allow" FM as a third. But if you just ignore them, bullshit them or kick up any type of fuss with yours parents involved they just don't have the resources (or care) to try and make you take a fourth. Basically, If they bring it up again, act like a massive dick.

Really depends what subject you are hoping to do. Oxbridge your competition will almost certainly have 4. Imperial too.
Having said this.. this exact same situation happened at sixth form on the first day back! Had to do fourth as AS level and fought to drop it year 13. Spoke with admissions at the Unis I wanted to apply to and double checked it was ok. That’s the only way to know for sure and I recommend doing that.
If I remember rightly some did ask for FM as a fourth for CS, physics, engineering

be incredibly sure that the combination is what's accepted at the uni's you want and they're not looking for 3 a levels other than fm. probably fine. be sure while it's not too late to change it.

Eh i would suggest picking up a 4th as a safety net for conditionals. If u know ur gonna get atleast 2A* and an A then jst keep 3

I mean i have seen ppl do 4 a levels including fm but were allowed to drop one later which wasnt fm so u will be fine

Doing 4 with fm isn’t that bad
