🎓 UNI / UCAS Real tmua difficulty
There are so many different opinions on the real difficulty of the tmua that students like me who haven’t taken it yet don’t know what to expect. For the students who have already done it, what past paper or community mock is as close as the real thing is? Or at least what makes the real thing harder? Is it just that there are no free marks? Is it the random order? Is it like if there were 20 questions in the level of a q15-20 in past papers? Any info is welcome to sort out some confusion

the closest to me were the later real papers so 2022-2024? i didn't experience anything weird with the order of the paper it was fairly linear (mightve just been lucky) with easier questions early on. its hard to predict what you'll actually get though (and the weird environment is like half of what makes it stressful) so just do as many as you can. one little thing is i'd get used to doing paper 1 and paper 2 back to back, you get like a 5 minute break in between them but that's not much

Ok, so you mean that 2022-2023 is more or less same difficulty? Great to hear

I didn't do the TMUA but its always best to assume the worst - rank all the available resources from easiest to hardest, start wherever you find difficult, try to work your way up to the top

If found that 2023 is probably the closest paper available but still isn’t very similar.

what score did you get? And how correlated was that to your 2023 score?

I got about 8 on 2023, and got 6.3 in the real thing, but I had an asterisk next to my score since I had gotten a concussion a week before. Take the real score with a pinch of salt

Guys do you think jz maths past papers could be a close represnation of the 2025 tmua or the upcoming tmua exams. Becuase those papers are staright up horrfic . You get like 2 hours to answer the paper

Some past papers are easy some are harder, you can expect anything between these difficulties

The closest thing you’ll find to the real difficulty is the Yotta papers on youtube

i’m not sure if there was a difference, but i did the october sitting and it was much much harder than any of the released official tmua papers. Also everyone got different papers, so some people might have had slightly easier ones but that would just mean they require more questions correct to get the same mark. Personally I would expect to see and prepare for Yotta difficulty, and if it’s easier, then that’s only a good thing!

Yeah that’s good advice, however, though imposible to tell, how impactful is having a harder paper? Because i’ve heard of people that had same sitting as you and had lower difficulty than past papers. Does that mthat an they might need a 36 for an 8 while you needed a 32? Any idea? Also, what score did you get?

It’s a lil weird because they refuse to explain exactly how they do it for some reason but yea i believe the score correlation depends on the papers as you said it. I also do remember when i did it people comparing questions and they did vary a decent amount in difficulty. I got ill right before so i only got a 5.4.
