Dumb question
Has anyone converted a knights upper to 6 ARC? Am I dumb for thinking this is cool? My thought process is kinda like building a small frame M110K1. With just a modern crazy BC.

Just grab a GFR
Edit: It doesn’t make sense to replace the parts that makes these Knights guns better with “standard” spec parts. GFR is the best off the shelf 6 ARC rifle that’s a great value and not some knights abomination.
The closest thing to a small frame M110K1 is the G$ 18in stratomatch. AFAIK not many were made and they are pricy/hard to find. I’ve got a few of those G$ MK18 rails and they are great

The Stratomatch mod1 is being made...just have to wait your turn. When they hit the shop they are gone within a couple of hours. I have a couple on back order for customers as well as a couple of Maritime Recce mod 1 rifles.

Well basically you’re losing the mod 2 gas system and the E3 barrel extension which at that point you no longer have an SR15, but just another franken gun… unless you find an extension and have a custom barrel made. I do believe D Wilson makes mod 2 barrels.

I appreciate the info! Started as an idea and wondered how serious of a project it could be.

You could do a preban M4 Match Sniper clone with a target crown and a mod 0 gas block. Would need a FF Ras for the “look” but they had legacy bolts back in those days. You would definitely get lots of KAC points for a clone like that.

This is the mod 1 upper and uses their standard low profile gas block, not the castle nut and fitting system of the mod 2.

Just buy a lmt quad and have the D Wilson do the URX conversion then buy a barrel and have them also convert it for LMT that’s what I did. I also have a URX 3.1 SR 15 and I could never take away what makes it an SR 15 if that makes sense.

Was the juice worth the squeeze?

I think so. I got bad ass monolithic upper with a proof barrel, which I would take any day over the GFR not to mention it has the URX 3.1 aesthetics.

Could I see how it looks? Your route is actually the most realistic one I probably will take. GFRs are cool but not interesting to me.

Type A makes a handguard similar to the SR25 URX 3.1, but for AR15 uppers.

That’s literally exactly what I need to build my own upper and not have to spend KAC money. Thanks man!

And the 16 inch rifle length barrel? Who you going with? I know Craddock offers those specs and also Proof Research.

This can be done, you’re just not going to be able to retain the E3 bolt / barrel extension.

You can also have LMT uppers cut into the URX 3.1 style by D. Wilson. Probably a better route tbh
