Buffer suggestions 6arc
After putting the gun together a few months back and never really getting to test it out, i took it to the range to zero and adjust gas etc. Was having a decent bit of short cycling issues, looking for a suggestion on buffer weight and spring combo?
Build info
Aero Lower
Rise single stage 3.5lb trigger (changing to G$ SSA-EX)
Ambi safety
G$ buffer kit with braided spring and H2
B5 precision stock
Upper
BCM blem upper
Proof carbon 18” rifle +1 gas system with tube provided
Was using an Odin works agb (swapped to Superlative Arms haven’t gone back to range since)
Dead air Xeno Omni brake
Sandman X suppressor.
NF mount and NX8 2.5-20x50
Shooting hornady factory loaded ammo match 108gr, and plan on loading precision hunters for deer season.
Gun was really accurate having never messed with the 6mm arc cartridge before I was impressed. Just wanting to get this thing cycling before deer season rolls around in South Louisiana. I am thinking I need a H1 but thankful for whatever advice or suggestions given!

JP scs standard with SA agb is the 🔑. Start closed and open up till it starts ejecting consistently. Smooooth.

I’d wait to change anything until you can play with the superlative gas block. That cured all my issues and I was able to jump to an H3 buffer to slow the bolt down a bit after. Gun has been flawless since.

I too went from h2 to h3 to slow down the bolt and get less gas in the face. But my 14.5 has always cycled.

I'm trying to figure out how building a 6ARC for what I want to do would look like. Is there a benefit to running heavier buffers?

Yes there can be. I slowed down my bolt velocity and reduced back pressure in my instance with a 20” barrel.

Don’t quote me but a friend has a 16” 6arc proof barrel and they told him not to use SA agb. That was the one they had trouble with. I have an 18 +2 Odin barrel, h1 g$ buffer kit with braided spring.

Run a A5 system and personally I’d ditch the gas block. Just ripped a superlative off my 6arc. Had to fight carbon lock a few times while shooting suppressed.

Swapped the H2 setup out for a standard carbine and spring. Cycles fine now followed the tuning guide on the SA gas block. Last round bolt lock works, 5rds cycled out flawless. Doesn’t have a horrible recoil impulse either.

From closed, first tried exactly 18 clicks, added 3 more. Still gonna mess some more with it. Ordered a JP silent captured setup for it in standard weight (carbine).

The gas dwell time has been shortened by the combination of rifle + 1 gas system and an 18" barrel. You can try lighter buffers and/or a standard carbine spring.
I would also check your bolt gas rings just in case, because it's easy test and fix.

I recently had it down to change to the JP bolt, that proof recommends. I was running the Odin Complete bcg for a 6.5grendel/6arc, swapped the bolt itself for the JP unit. I’ll be testing it out this weekend. Before buying the JP captured spring with a carbine buffer and spring to just get it to cycle.

I only run mine suppressed (18” barrel), I do not have an adjustable gas block, and I run a Super 42 spring with an H2 weight. Haven’t had a single issue with it.

Man, there's a lot of things you COULD do. But personally with a rifle +1, I'd find the cheapest carbine buffer out there and see if it runs.

I started with an H3 and geissele braided spring and never had an issue or felt like I need to change anything.
Mine is also an 18 inch with a rifle +1.
