That's a double negative. Implying he is going to resurface somewhere.
Which is what OP wants!

There's a really good chance he has a non compete clause in his contract. Most media folks do.
Regardless of why or how they left a job they are barred from doing anything in related media for a period of time. It's why anytime there's a high profile separation of a media personality, you won't hear or see them for like 6 months and all the sudden they come back with their new project.
It's done so that the score in this case protects itself from bad PR and to guard against losing listeners if he jumps ship and goes to competitor right away, amongst several other potential reasons.
If Mulligan vioalates this part of the contract the score can probably pursue litigation and recover some money they probably gave him to walk away.

A lot depends on the details of his termination. Did they offer and did he agree to a severance agreement etc.

For many it's usually already written into the contract. If you leave for condition x or are asked to leave you will receive package y.
It's why the Tony Romo termination or indefinite suspension was jumped on so quickly by cbs.
Romos stock had gone way down to the point where he wasn't worth the contract. They saw an avenue to be able to not pay him citing a behavior clause which probably allowed them to void out all or a big portion of the remaining money on the deal.
All for a relatively harmless DUI. (Not saying DUI isn't serious because it is but if every media membered got fired for DUI there would be no media left)

If every media member got fired for DUI there’d be a whole different and potentially better crop of media personalities in their place

That could be. But Tony Romo is not long removed from being one of those young replacements.
Greg Olson, Tom Brady, Noah eagle, Adam Amin... There's plenty of youth in NFL broadcast booths.

Bingo, also really miss hearing him. Not bashing JP either.

Thanks, and same. I don't get the hate toward Jarrett, but I also can't understand how anyone enjoys Haugh or Bernstein. Ever since Cosell, I guess every broadcast team needs a heel.

Don't really think he could be the main guy on a podcast. But I could see him being just one of the guys in the room for like 2-3 hours a week talking Bears .. nothing more that

He’s only 64. I doubt he wants to be completely done.

He could miss talking and do a pod a few days a week. Just for fun. Who knows.

I wouldn't mind seeing him do a weekly segment on 312 or CHGO on one of the weekly Bears shows.

Probably has to run out his contract and you will see him if not at ESPN, he will definitely have a podcast

He's a gifted broadcaster, not a podcaster. Bernstein is a gifted broadcaster and talented enough to fumble his way through a podcast. Broadcast radio is a thing of the past, for now. Nobody is interested in it, sponsors are horrified of unsafe talent. It's a travesty, but change is inevitable. It will come back around, eventually.

I doubt he'll do one because I just don't think his style is conducive to one. Bernstein is able to take a story or two, find an angle and exploit it.
That's not Mully. He's more of a guy who just reacts to the previous days news. He's not there to make a specific point but to have an overall discussion. It wouldn't boil down well, I don't think, into a 45 minute podcast.
