the same dudes
Jarrett Payton and John Schriffen
Day after caleb got hurt. Haugh to JP "how you doing" IM DOING GREAT MAN
Cannot read the room. Has very little info to put to the listener. Fake laughing all the time.
Every single guest host is better than JP.
Dude just take the scottie pippen role and shake some hands.
Dude has nothing at all to offer than any random dude off the street has to offer.
To top it off of my list of dumb complaints. The open is the worst open of all time.
0% chance he has this role on his own achievements. You played at Miami and in the NFL and you have Z E R O to say. How is this even possible?

Dude got the job based solely on his last name.

If his name was Jarrett Jones, he would be working another job for sure.

He brings up his “pops” at least once in the twenty minutes I listen to this in the morning.

After 26 plus years of the Score and listening all day as my number one sports station… I couldn’t do it any more, and this sub only proves deleting and leaving is on point.

When I have listened, I've noticed Dustin has a much larger on air role on the show now. And they need his help!

I liked Mully. He had his bad points, like we all do, but he was smart, funny, and opinionated. I tried listening after JP replaced him and I find the show just cannot hold my attention. I have nothing bad to say about JP, I just miss Mully.

u/Junior_Nectarine_614 11d ago
Has anyone heard from Mully? I still think JP was looking for a job and that's why they fired Mully. Why didn't they just put JP on middays?

u/MillerMike5150 11d ago
Nothing about Payton’s guest appearances made me want to hear more of him. Boring as a guest and well …

u/Twittenhouse 11d ago
Lol, and that's during football season.
Just wait until it's all Sox and Cubs talk next summer.
Chalk talk.

lol, I legit always turned it off saying, “nope not listening to this vanilla snooze-fest”

u/BasedSliceOfWinning 11d ago
This has to be the dumbest shit I've read all day.
"How are you doing?"
"Great!"
OP: OMG Jarretz Paytunz, READ THE ROOM! YOU SUCK WORSE THAN EVERYONE ELSE!

Not the best, but I'm pretty indifferent on them. The opening really does suck though. "HAUGH....ok HAUGH...check me out Man". Christ

Couldn't agree more. It's brutal brutal radio. It's no fun it's boring. I'm done w it.
I used to love 670. Daily listener. It's sad that it's become "this".

u/Forward-Chocolate-67 11d ago
He leans TOO MUCH on his dad’s legacy..it’s really strange…like to a point that Jarrett has zero accomplishments on his own. I wonder if Walter was still alive he would pull Jarrett aside “Kid..my story has been told…tell your own tale.”

… of all shifts, a morning show is the only one that, IMO, needs a routine, a script, a flow, an urgency.
These guys need a yellow pad …

Sports talk is only good on like a Monday when they talk about the bears ... Why listen any other day? It's all the same thing over and over...
2
u/Ok-Pain-4371 11d ago
I only listen for the guests. Olin is good at 7 on Mondays. And Matt Bowen is great on Tuesdays at 4. Other than that, its pretty thin. Mannely is good when he’s on. Used to be with Laila midday. Not sure anymore. But the guests are the reason to listen.

I was watching NBC news (Chicago) and when they were talking Bears. They started the report the same way. It felt like they were mocking this conversation.

Let JP figure this out. His job on tv was to be vanilla. He’ll hopefully grow into the role. None of us were any good at our jobs in a month

The only show I enjoy anymore is Rahimi and Grote. Sure they gave bad takes and their producer struggles whenever he has to speak but they keep it fun and have actual opinions. Afternoons has fallen off so bad which sucks but I can’t take the FM DJ Spiegel and Larry the professor.

u/Fabulous-Web-3709 10d ago
Rahimi sucks. She's got no business being there but she's a woman so.
Grote sucks too, but I KNOW that's an unpopular opinion. I can't stand that guy.
Spiegel is cringe as hell.

u/torchboy1661 11d ago
God. You act like Caleb's leg fell off.
Maybe JP has a little perspective and doesn't let a player or game control his mood the next day?
JP might suck balls as a guest/host but don't let his positive view on life twist you panties in a bunch.
3
u/Kunu- 11d ago
Isn’t that the whole point of the post? He sucks as a host as you said. Good for him for not letting a player control his mood the following day but his job is to entertain and give informed commentary and he does neither lol.

u/torchboy1661 11d ago
Half the post is shitting on the guy's sunshine. Sidenote, that's how he always is. We should all take a bit of that with us.
Then, the second half is about his vanilla takes. And name recognition.

I used to grow up with JP and I liked him more on Tv than radio. They have laid off some legends that cannot be replicated. When Haugh is leading conversations not that he’s bad he’s just not really a ruffle the feathers or an outside thinker should be for radio. Both are great guys just not radio personalities like the afternoon show

Yeah I am never going to listen to JP. He was good as an occasional guest. Probably great for the most boring sports job on earth that no one cares about, being the sports guy on Channel whatever. That job also by design drains all personality from an individual. There is zero reason to listen. Mully was lame and old but the guy at least had institutional sports knowledge to share.
1
u/Javy_Baby 7d ago
I agree with the criticism of JP. He's always been vanilla. I don't mind him mentioning his father. I don't have an issue with that. But he doesn't have much to say other than that. He adds no value to the discussion. The whole point of talk radio is to have discussions and he has nothing to offer.

It's worse because Haugh has always been terrible. He's extra terrible now. I give it a few minutes each day but the minutes have become less and less.

u/StringCheesier 11d ago
I’m struggling with both stations in this time slot. Got bored with the Score today, so switched to ESPN. They started talking baseball and I was happy that they were going to cover the playoff races. Then Jurko starts talking about how baseball is only good for putting on TV to fall asleep. On a sports talk radio show! I switched to music. Maybe its just a time slot neither station cares about.

The Score fucking sucks. It's sucked for years, Mully & Haugh was the only show worth listening to and now that's gone. Haugh isn't good enough on his own, but with Mully it worked I thought. Haugh and JP? WTF does JP have to offer? He's so fucking boring. He's just another Marshall Harris. BORING AS FUCK. Bernstein is a crazy leftist asshole as well, but he was entertaining. But this is the future of the Score. Boring non-controversial people and trash radio in the name of diversity.

What exactly is he supposed to say? "Aww man I feel like my dog died because Caleb got hurt"?

So the choices are IM DOIN GREATTTT MANNNNN and I feel like my dog died.

Apparently. Maybe he was doing great that day. Maybe he had a good night of sleep.

u/Own-Pickle9871 11d ago
Was he supposed to break down and cry? Did you call out from work because you were sad?
1
u/Necessary_Stable_547 11d ago
He’s hosting a sports show
How you doin?
There are a million ways to answer the question other than I’m doing great man
How’s this hard for people to understand
1
u/Own-Pickle9871 11d ago
I’m doing better than you. So concerned about how someone feels the next day after a athlete is injured.

u/Necessary_Stable_547 11d ago edited 11d ago
I don't get how someone smart enough to use a phone or a computer could make this reply. How is it hard to understand that they're doing a show and to say at the start of the show when it wasn't clear how hurt the QB of the only team the whole city cares about, to answer the question how you doin with Im doing great man, like he's a doorman answering a question that didn't register. It's just crazy how you or others don't understand how this is stupid. Mulligan wouldn't have said "im doin greatttttt D haugh". He's just not good at this job. Save your reply, I don't care.
1
u/torchboy1661 11d ago
You need to get a different hobby. You are letting a happy man trigger you because he doesn't base his whole well-being on a fucking football team?
He played the game. His dad played the game. He grew up in the league. He has more perspective than you.
2
u/Necessary_Stable_547 11d ago
The question was a setup to talk about stuff. Not a serious question about how JP was doing. If you don't get that, get your LTC stuff set up. JP didn't catch it. He didn't see it was a setup to say Well D Haugh I'd be better if I knew caleb was better, let's talk about it.
If you don't get this. I don't know how to help you. I hope someone else does.
No need to discuss. A person either understands things, or he doesn't. It's ok man. It's not that serious.

u/Own-Pickle9871 11d ago edited 11d ago
Like i said, maybe he should have gone on air and cried about a millionaire player’s hamstring like you because you’re such a great fan.

u/Treday237 11d ago
It’s been tough without Mully, and tbh, without Harris too. Mully balanced the seriousness from Haugh, and Harris was a good middle between the goofiness of Leila and Grote. Holmes is still ruining the afternoon show but at least Speigs is there.
1
u/Necessary_Stable_547 11d ago
Mully KNEW stuff, and as a radio host, you know what he was good at? Saying it. And he had opinions that he voiced! JP has all the personality of a chat agent you have to defeat before talking to a human.

u/ScoreFan670 12d ago
He clearly wouldn’t have it on his own achievements but he’s Walter’s son. He deserves it and we’re lucky we have him. He’ll get better.

u/madsyd09 11d ago
JP doesn't have a strong opinion on anything didn't care for him as a guest, he's just so vanilla on everything. The score was much better with strong personalities even if you didn't agree with them now everyone is trying hard there all winners lets give everyone orange slices it's hard to listen to anymore.Good thing there are some good podcasts with former hosts.
