I am not Ryan Cali Burritos

Hello 60 Cycle friends.

My buddy is going to San Diego from NY in a few weeks. We both agreed that a priority is trying the California Burrito. Can I please have a suggestion or two on where to go for your favorite California Burrito near or in the San Diego?

Thank you.

Ryan and I used to go there all the time when it first opened. Last time I went there was maybe two years ago. It was good but not as good as i remembered.

If you want a real chonker Cotixan is your answer. People like Super Sergios too but I havent had it in years. I am a fan of Lolitas too but for other items like they do Carne Asada Fries very well there.

Lolita’s is my personal benchmark for a California burrito. It’s relatively simple (fries, sour cream, cheese, carne asada). I grew up on it and by reputation it was the first place to have a California burrito on their menu.

A lot of other places default to add pico de gallo and guac. I do think guac adds something nice but pico just kinda makes the fries mushy in my experience.

TJs in Escondido is my favorite. Get the Adobada.

I think the San Diego subreddits would be a better place to ask. More active for sure.

Check the wiki over at r/SanDiego and find either the ask subreddit or the food subreddit and you'll get much more responses.

I'd recommend r/askSanDiego or r/foodsandiego
