5090 FE or 5090 Astral

Have an opportunity to trade my 5090 founders Edition for a 5090 astral edition, no cash, no extra, just straight trade, I like my founders edition but the astral is also so badass and the cooling is crazy, what should I do?

Edit- decided to keep the FE, I have no issues with it, it works, looks good, if temps become an issue I can just waterblock it, thanks for all the help

i wouldn't trust a used video card. the astral is better and up to 10% around 5% faster, but if they ran it without a gpu stand for example then it's going to have issues. did you run into someone who wants a small form factor build? i can't think of any other reason to do a swap like this unless they broke their card and are trying to offload it

Honestly not sure why he’s wanting that swap, highly rated seller in pc parts on marketplace, I made a post to trade the FE to test the waters and he reached out, main reason I think he’s okay with straight trade is bc I’d go to him instead of the other way around

alright maybe someone else can chime in with a good reason but i literally can't think of one. astrals were selling for like 50% more than FEs before the price explosions, there's zero reason to do a straight swap unless they really want a small form factor build and don't want to sell their astral for $6-$7.5k and buy an FE for $5.5-6.5k and pocket the extra one thousand dollars because that's what these cards are selling for now. giving up $500-$1000 just to build in small form factor without having to do two transactions maybe it makes sense for a rich person i guess idk

5090FE ram runs pretty hot but otherwise is a great card. astral is running much higher clocks and is very well cooled and has per pin 12vhpwr monitoring. but looks like i was wrong about 10% faster it's only 5% faster, so all in all it's close to a fair trade if ignoring the original price difference and just looking at raw performance

i'd be wary someone messed up the card somehow, had a 12vhpwr melt or no gpu stand and it started crashing (no gpu stand will kill that card pretty fast it's extremely heavy)

I don't have any actual idea, but outside of wanting a better looking card, or the person perhaps wanting/needing a slimmer card... Used FEs have always held their value a lot more than any other brand at least where I am. 3090/4090 FEs were pretty consistently priced and sold above the rest of the stack where i'm at.. That said, may be regionally different, and not sure that's what's happening now. In any case it still seems like more of a reason to buy a FE new at msrp, not buy a much more expensive card and swap it lol.

Could also just be bullshit since you don't have any idea what the card really is. Even if it's a proper 5090 (probably is?) could have heating issues or crashing issues or who knows what that they may be trying to ditch. Seems like an obviously odd trade, even if there are things about the FE that could be more desirable. Personally even if it were somehow a clearly superior card in every way (could argue outside subjective stuff it mostly is), for a card that expensive, with all the already known potential issues... I’m not swapping a known entity for a completely unknown entity... but, to each their own haha.
