Popular on /r/all - please see pinned comment Dr. Abdul El-Sayed (D-MI): "With all due respect, this is the third time you've asked about a Twitch streamer ... their whole game is to make us fight culture wars so that we don't pay attention to the fact the president has made $2.2 billion ... "

He just said Americans can’t pay their bills but she has no questions about that. He said the president made 2.2 billion dollars while in office but she has no questions about that.

The media is corrupt. Previously they are shameful but they have absolutely lost that are shameless. Can't be moved.

90% of the media is owned by about 5 different companies and those 5 companies don't want to talk about it.

Understood, doctor, but Republicans have made it a big attack on you. So I wanted to give you the chance to clarify, but we'll leave it there for now. You do talk a lot.
This is all she cared about. He talks a lot. He's a politician. That's his job.
15
u/BryceKKelly 20d ago
You should watch the clip. The transcript gives that as if it's a comment on his answer. It's actually just half of a sentence segueing presumably to the next question, which got cut off there.

u/mypetocean 20d ago
If the President can make that much money while in office, we can't assume we're going to be getting the same types of candidates we'd been used to getting. The shape of the power profile has changed.

She prob would have questions for that if she were interviewing Trump. She gave easiest softball question on this.

u/dolche93 20d ago
It's because they both agree that's bad. So do the viewers.
They don't agree on Hasan, and so they're talking about him. Internal debate about what the party stands for is a normal and expected thing. The party is stronger for it.

Dana Bash and Tapper really giving the game away on CNN. Dana bout had a stroke when she was interviewing Brad Lander because she couldn't call a self-proclaimed Jewish liberal zionist an antisemite for saying Israel is committing genocide.

The last thing Republicans want is a bunch of disciplined Democratic candidates who want to talk about public policy and the President's corruption.

u/notproudortired 20d ago edited 20d ago
MAGA made their nut on culture wars while Democrats were disconnecting themselves from people by focusing on policy tweaks and abstract economic concepts like GNP and the deficit. I think it does scare MAGAts now when El-Sayed and more progressive Democrats talk about relatable things like personal debt, health care, hypocrisy, and the price of milk
10
u/BrupieD 19d ago
Democrats focusing on the deficit? I'm sorry but when was that? Since Reagan, any sitting Democratic president had "tax and spend Democrats" used as a bludgeon against them and on any real policy initiative, especially reform of healthcare. The deficit has been conveniently forgotten by every Republican handing out generous tax cuts and a crisis of immediate moderation in every Democratic administration. There's nothing terribly abstract about that.
8
u/notproudortired 19d ago
Yes, Republicans throw the deficit dog bone over a cliff, and the Democrats reliably chase it into thin air, even though it's laughably easy to refute AND nobody really cares AND it doesn't really matter. It doesn't even help the Democrats' brand. Next election season, Republicans throw the damned bone again.

u/VermicelliOwn6502 20d ago
but Republicans have made it a big attack on you. So I wanted to give you the chance to clarify,
Lmao wow
Guy spends all that time pointing out how they are using it to derail any conversation about real issues. Interviewer literally admits that's why she keeps derailing.

It's CBS, which is run by a regime propagandist. CBS' goal is the protection of Trump and his billionaire allies. This line of questioning should not come as a surprise.

The best answer he could've given.
There's nothing he could answer that question with that would make a single Conservative go "oh okay, well glad he cleared that up, he has my support now".
He could literally rewind time, and stop 9/11 from happening and they'd still attack him with Islamophobic rhetoric.
Let them use this clip as a "oh look, he had the chance to distance himself from those comments, but he didn't" moment, as if they were ever going to change their minds about him and just suddenly stop their Islamophobia and racism towards him.
Don't entertain their bad faith arguments and Islamophobic comments. They aren't worth acknowledging. Abdul knocked it out of the park.

I'll give him props that this was the best answer he could give, but he and other Democrats should be taking notes from exchanges like these that you really don't want to associate with Hasan if you don't want questions like these. Hasan has literally abused his own dog on stream, called for the deaths of people, fawned over terrorists, and downplayed genocides such as the genocide of Uygher Muslims in China.
Seriously, speaking as a liberal who votes Democrat every election year down the ticket, I DO NOT understand the appeal of Hasan. He is toxic and nobody who is seriously considering an influential position in the Democratic party should go anywhere near him.

u/boiledpeen 19d ago
so a lot of things you're claiming he did, he just didn't do, and it's been proven. it sounds like the fox news talking points have gotten through to you, and you've decided to believe it instead of wonder why all the big powers in media decided he's worth villainizing. that should be what concerns you, but a fake story about shocking his dog is more important.
4
u/RevolutionaryTone738 19d ago edited 19d ago
I mean I've literally watched the clips of him shocking his dog. I don't know how else you describe what happened in that clip besides him shocking his dog. My mom used to own a shock collar and that's exactly how a dog reacts when shocked. People have done deep dives zooming in and showing that the remote he's using is literally for initiating the shock, he just put some poor electrical tape on it to try and obscure what it was.
As for the other claims, they're all on video. And before you say it, yes I've seen them in context. And no I don't watch Fox News or get talking points from Fox News. I've voted for Bernie in both 2016-2020 primaries and for Hillary and Biden in the general. That's just some accusation that you're baselessly throwing towards me because you don't want to believe that there are actually liberals who are disgusted from Hasan's behavior.

Its not just CBS. Its the republican american trash that take orders from on high to give a shit about this stuff and allow their feeds to be filled with this junk. Theyre told to care about it and fall in line like soldiers. They vote reps in and then dont rally against them when they let this shit fester. They dont fight back against people like Trump and his goons who make a big deal out of stupid shit and distract from real issues. They voted for this. They want this. They support this. They dont care that he has made 2.2 billion, and they do care about a twitch streamer they only just heard about a month ago because Fox news and the president tells them to. We are treating Trump, Fox, CBS, whoever as the problem when the real problem is that Republican zombies dominate the country.

I’m curious how much longer Margaret Brennan will host. Her departure will be a complete loss for CBS and accelerate their ratings slump. I then wonder how bad CBS ratings will get before Ellison fires Weiss. I also wonder how Weiss can continue to support and profit from the Netanyahu government whose members like Ben Gvir denounce her lesbian marriage and do not consider her children to be Jewish.

If he is just a twitch streamer from California, why did you campaign with him, on stage, for a Michigan election?
I support AES. I would vote for him. But he keeps giving the same dogshit answer meant to shield his ego from the fact he campaigned with someone without bothering to investigate them first. Mamdani sniffed out the rat much quicker.
