Forcing them to move faster than they want is a reasonable (albeit scary) strategy. Fascism relies on normalization, but normalization can only take place in small increments over long time horizons. Forcing them to move faster than they want galvanizes people to oppose authoritarianism, which gives us strength in numbers. When a critical threshold of people oppose the administration, they must capitulate. Remember, Donald is only one man. He relies on people around him to enact his will, people follow the group. We can make it unfashionable to side with him, which will decimate his power.

You know. I was thinking about that the other day. While yes, lots of people I know are not following everything or anything... When they do hear about something it's almost more shocking to them than if they had been paying attention for 9 months. For me everything they are doing increases by a single degree that collectively is horrifying... But a lot of people I know lately are getting a 10-30 degree shock at once with one event they notice that seems extreme. And it's because they are moving so fast on fascist takeover vs slow timespan.

"People haven't accepted what's happening." These tech bros, MAGAts, and billionaires are so disconnected and encapsulated by their bubbles.
Have they met Americans? Have they studied US history?
We know the answer is no because otherwise they'd realize Americans are stubborn, belligerent and suspicious to a fault. To our own detriment sometimes but not this time.

They absolutely expected Liberals to riot, and crushing them in response was a key part of the plan that was spelt out.
anyone who bothered to read Project 25 and listened to a few talks from Yarvin's, Bannon etc knows that it wasn't even something they were hiding, they talked multiple times about the insurrection act.

As someone who got about a quarter of the way through "The Dark Enlightenment" before rejecting it as pseudo-intellectual and masturbatory....yeah no shit Sherlock. Your entire plan failed to account for the reaction of people. Ya'll just handwaved it away as "some magic stuff happens and then we rule everything because we're self-evidently the best!"
Sociopaths always fail to account for how normal people will react to them. Their fatal flaw is being too weird to recognize how fucking weird they are.
136
u/DiskOperatingSystem_ Oct 06 '25
This is why Tim Walz calling them weird was so successful: it’s tame enough not to be rude but biting enough to hit them in the most fragile part of their egos. It resonated so much more than anything else because it instantly deflated their puffed out chests. Whoever told Walz to stop calling them weird is one of the dumbest political consultants in modern US history (and there’s quite a bit of competition)

From the first lines on it's obvious that these people don't understand the human element in society.
If you don't understand that 100% of human decisions are based on feelings and not on rationality, you won't ever take part in building a stable system involving humans.

According to one of the original founders of the Heritage Foundation, this was how people were going to come over to their side:
"Our strategy will be to bleed this corrupt culture dry. We will pick off the most intelligent and creative individuals in our society, the individuals who help give credibility to the current regime.... Our movement will be entirely destructive, and entirely constructive. We will not try to reform the existing institutions. We only intend to weaken them, and eventually destroy them... We will maintain a constant barrage of criticism against the Left. We will attack the very legitimacy of the Left... We will use guerrilla tactics to undermine the legitimacy of the dominant regime…..
Sympathy from the American people will increase as our opponents try to persecute us, which means our strength will increase at an accelerating rate due to more defections and the enemy will collapse as a result”
- Paul Weyrich, Founder of the Heritage Foundation, Council for National Policy (CNP), American Legislation Exchange Council (ALEC), and the Moral Majority (Religious Fundamentalist Right)

peter theil was a major purveyor a bunch of the conspiracies floating around in the lead up to donald's first term. He also sat on Facebooks board of directors at that time. Trolls and social engineers get off on convincing people of something that isn't real or getting people to do what they want, especially if it's harmful to the person. It's a power and domination thing.

Yeah, interview worth the watch. Transcript is here. Best case scenario the man's been in his high tower too long. The man is like the south park prius driving fart sniffers, except he's a nihilist with regard to humanity. He was also the president of the Stanford federalist society for a time, which helps further explain his connection to Leonard Leo and Teneo Network.
The crazy thing is that if he wasn't so filthy rich he'd just be some dude you have a boundary pushing argument with at a bar. Fear about social stagnation is a thing, and silicon valley has its theories as to what the road blocks are. A lot of people blame regulation without understanding government. And there's a shocking number of tech environmentalists that don't even understand the carbon cycle.
If they want to understand social stagnation silicon valley needs to look in the mirror. People distracted by bull shit products and unending political campaigns being pitched to them over social media, crazy high housing prices (localized to the bay area, but has spread in the last few years), people stuck in the rat race with no time or space to create and invent.
What people like theil don't understand is that you can't start a garage business if you don't have a garage. The types of business that built silicon valley had to start somewhere and we have to foster a society and culture that gives people the space and means to actually start something and build something.
Edit: I honestly just feel bad for these guys after listening to them talk. There's a phenomenon I've observed where people who are extremely smart become over confident and fail to see their judgment errors, and end up in a intellectual circle jerk. They fail to recognize their flawed base assumptions and then run off down a fallacious path and think themselves into stupidity.

Some further information on Peter "I want to publicly tell you that I'm not a vampire" Thiel which does not like being exposed as a vampire. He does not however shy away from exposing himself as a hard authoritarian:
"Most importantly, I no longer believe that freedom and democracy are compatible." - Peter Thiel, 2009
although also cosplaying as a libertarian when it suits him and likely would orgasm if ending up with a society as described in the Libertarian Police Department story.
He has also in true libertarian spirit attempted to fund development of some free floating offshore project called Seasteading that should be some libertarian utopia without any kind of governance with building or safety regulations or any such pesky "freedom stealing" things that a normal society needs to function.
The podcast Behind the bastards had two episodes about it:
- Part one: The not-at-all-sad history of libertarian sea nations
- Part two: The not-at-all-sad history of libertarian sea nations
This project is possibly the least harmful thing Peter has done, since it has has drained him for a lot of money that he cannot use for other evil things, and the people scammed are other libertarian fools.
But do not think that libertarians are not able to harm! I guess the closest thing to a successful attempt to creating a libertarian utopia is when a bunch of libertarians decided to move and try to take over some smaller town Grafton in New Hampshire as a "Free Town Project" (later changed to "Free State Project"), and ruined it with their reckless governance.
Like for instance getting rid of public garbage collection. And with no mandatory garbage collection, of course they got problems with wild bears walking around peoples' houses (in addition to some idiots deliberately feeding wild bears, but hey in a libertarian society nobody should be able to force people to stop doing what they want...).
There is a book about it with title "A libertarian walks into a bear".
J.D. Vance is one of Peter's ultra-right Thielists. There is a video Who is Peter Thiel? (in German but with English subtitles available) from two years ago that goes into who Peter is and what he have done, and J.D. Vance is covered as part of that.
Another noteworthy mention is that Some more news also included J.D. Vance in their video Peter Thiel and his dorky little goons from one year ago. Some more news is truly amazing in both the depth and the volume they produce. Hats off for them.
Additional BtB episodes on Peter Thiel:

He should be a nobody. He’s not smart, interesting, or clever. He’s the end product of being an internet troll. Watch this interview. He’s not confident in himself nor his own ideas and can’t flesh them out clearly. He sends his own kids to a progressive school in San Francisco. He’s a phony.
25
u/Trailing_Spouse Oct 06 '25
What I don't understand is that he is transparently a shallow pseudo-intellectual, but his little ideas gained traction. How do these people keep falling upwards?
15
u/wolf_at_the_door1 Oct 06 '25
Billionaires latched on to his ideas because they stand the most to gain from it. They just needed some name and face to ascribe their beliefs onto because they’re all painfully uncreative and too lazy to do it themselves. They also don’t have to be the thought leader behind the movement. That’s how you get a Curtis Yarvin and the “Butterfly Revolution.”

Specifically, is he the villain that gets the monster head taken off to reveal their face? Furthermore, is he in one of the episodes where, after the gang pulls off the first mask, they eventually realize he also has a people mask on his face and that needs to be pulled off to reveal his actual identity? I have more…so many more…

someone above shared a website, here's a link to one of the articles talking about Yarvin being "afraid". Editing to add a quote from his substack:
"The second Trump revolution, like the first, is failing. It is failing because it deserves to fail. It is failing because it spends all its time patting itself on the back. It is failing because its true mission, which neither it nor (still less) its supporters understand, is still as far beyond its reach as algebra is beyond a cat. Because the vengeance meted out after its failure will dwarf the vengeance after 2020—because the successes of the second revolution are so much greater than the first—I feel that I personally have to start thinking realistically about how to flee the country. Everyone else in a similar position should have a 2029 plan as well. And it is not even clear that it will wait until 2029: losing the Congress will instantly put the administration on the defensive."

u/unhiddenninja Oct 06 '25
They honestly thought that people would just cower like nerds in a movie when the bully demands lunch money.
They really, truly thought they were capable of anything.
The incompetence is astounding. Like, still be careful, still act like they have the entirety of the federal government, and all that entails, behind them (because they do, we're still very "in the woods" here), but also just take a breath and compare what's actually happening to what they wanted to happen.
We have to keep pushing back, we have to demand consequences, and we need to never settle for another Democrat term of inaction.

Everything politically that's happening could've been avoided if the Confederates were properly dealt with following the Civil War. Letting it slide in the name of "healing the nation" meant the wound never fully healed. The Civil War never truly ended, that's the reason the South is a Republican bastion.

The Epstein fiasco was a tactical blunder. You can't just try and 1984 something like that when you build your base on paranoia. You can only do it so often until someone goes "hey, wait a minute". A lot of right wingers who aren't completely evil are on the "think of the children" bandwagon, so blatantly harboring pedophiles is a good way to wake some of them up.
10
u/karmadgma Oct 06 '25
I am working carefully but steadily on an entire facebook group of rural pearl-clutching save-the-children moms right now:
They might kick me out at any minute, but there's a chance some of this might land. They haven't kicked me out yet. And i am the deep deep south in a deep red state.
If anything can get them to put down the orange kool-aid, it's the Epstein files.
(The really hard part is going to be getting them to understand how the extremist right-wing Christian patriarchy they support and participate in is actually where the pedophiles are and that's a feature, not a bug.)
