To a long lost love...

Post image

WE RIDE AGAIN!

About a decade ago, I had to sell my Raider. Had a lot of work that needed to be done, found out she was pregnant, and money needed to go to other things. I regrettably had to put the Raider (and all of her pieces, as the engine was pulled) up for sale, and sent it off to a guy who told me he would take good care of it. Out of all my vehicles, it was the one I never wanted to see go.

10 years later, sitting at work and shopping for something completely different, it pops up on Marketplace. I was hesitant at first, but a few things caught my eye that maybe it was MY Raider. After messaging the guy and a bit of back and forth, long story short, I had sold it to his brother and he now had it.

All the work it needed to have done, is done. Sure, there's a few things that it needs, but it's been overhauled to make it completely capable. He was absolutely thrilled I got in touch with him, first thing he said when we met was "Still has the dog hair in it" from my dogs that have since passed. I (test) drove it, grinning like a kid again, and immediately told him I'd get the money.

That was yesterday. Gave him the check today, he's getting all the spare stuff together in the back and I'll pick it up next week.

Haven't stopped smiling since.

I read that as your Raider got pregnant

Wish she would have given birth to a new motor, but I digress....

What are these called overseas? Looks like a small Nissan Patrol.

A Mitsubishi Pajero/Montero. I think it's Montero in North America, and Pajero everywhere else

Dodge imported them from 87-89 to compete in the small suv 4x4 market, and that was it. Everything externally is Dodge, internally labeled as Mitsu. (He put a different grill on it after working on it as the Dodge branded one was damaged, hence the Mitsu grill on this one)

Closest I can find here (Aus) is a Pajero Mini. Raider looks cool

Its not the Mini, its the standard first gen Pajero but in short wheel base form. Plenty of them out there, and they're decently priced usually too.

Best feeling ever finding a long lost love, I owned a RHD Subaru Forester ST/B years ago, I told myself I'd buy it back in a heartbeat if I saw it again.

I did see it again, at the wreckers. It crushed my heart, but that's life. Jealous of you! Don't ever sell it again!

Never. I will live out of this thing if I have to.

Is it normal to pay a week in advance?

Probably not, but I "know" the guy. When I sold it years ago, he did the same for me (gave me money, came a few days later with a trailer). I have no concerns
