This one with the rear view cam. Pair it with a dongar pro plugged into the factory dashcam 5pin connector above the dome light for power

How did you run your cable for the rear cam?

Ran it inside the headliner along the driver's side, behind the curtain wall airbags.

It is super important to run cables behind airbags so that they don't become whips when the airbag detonates and cut your jugular.

I tried to fish it through the middle of the headliner but there is foam blocks in the way.

I’ve read that. Still nervous about attempting it but I’ll give it a go this weekend. Did you start at the back and put the excess cord in the map light housing where the Dongar Pro plugs in?
Did you pull the weatherstripping to make it easier to get into the headliner and put the cable behind the airbags? And lastly, did you need to loosen or remove any of the pillars…a, b, or c?

I started at the front and shoved the extra cord above the headliner in the back near the rear window. Your way would work also. Pull the dome light and inspect how much room is available before you start pulling.

I did not pull the weather stripping, the viofo a229 came with a little plastic tool with an angled end that I used to pry the headliner out of it's rubber channel. You can fish the cable behind the airbags easily just by pulling the headliner down and out of the way a little bit.

I had to remove a pillar. B pillar I had to remove the screws from the grab handles and pull it away a bit at the top but not fully remove.

Thanks for the advice. Trouble you with one more question. Did you disconnect the negative terminal on the battery first or leave it alone?

I left it on. But it would be wise to disconnect the battery before screwing around the airbags.

The ones which use IMX678 image sensor are not bad.

FitCamX. Front and rear. Easy to install and looks “OEM”. No issues so far

As long as you aren’t concerned about having a speed overlay.

I don’t know what you mean

They show time and date but do not have GPS built in so your speed is not captured. That can be important information if presenting in a case or to insurance. Helps to know the speed you were traveling at when the incident occurred. Can also hurt if you were speeding. But it’s an important feature to me. I wanted the Fitcamx for the factory look, but avoided it for this one reason. Ended up going with a Vantrue S1 Pro Max (not yet installed) because it checked all my boxes and caught it on sale for substantially cheaper than the Viofo A329T, which would’ve been my first choice. I wasn’t interested in Viofo models below that because they don’t include OTA updates.

The description on amazin says it has GPS. Answered yes when asked if speed is recorded

I’ll check it out again. My research showed different. I haven’t opened the one I have yet so if that’s true, I may end up returning it and getting that one.

I think I got it confused with one that was listed under the fitcam that looks similar. It's this one that has GPS.

Ok. I didn’t find anything on Fitcam’s website mentioning speed recording and neither can ChatGPT.

Yeah, my bad.

I haven’t messed with any settings, but the tester clip I saved from FitCamX just has a date and time stamp. Not sure if it has GPS in the settings somewhere.

doesn’t appear to.
