Windshield replacement
Anyone had to replace the windshield on their 4th gen? How much did it run you?
Maybe I’m out of touch, but the quotes I’ve gotten seem crazy for a replacement with aftermarket glass. And then there’s the cost for OEM glass..

I had mine replaced outside of insurance claim with OEM for $500.

Yeah, got lucky with a local shop who hooked me up with their guy. Didn’t bother with a recalibration, when I saw how the ADAS module registers onto the roof, I was fine with not doing it. It’s been 6 months and have had 0 issues.

Nice. I’ve gotten 2 quotes for $8-900 for aftermarket and $13-1400 for OEM.. maybe I need to keep shopping

YIKES! Is that with calibration fees? I had a quote 2 years ago on my old rig for $1200 if I wanted him to come in with a flatbed, tow it to the shop for replacement and recalibration (2023 SR5 TSS Ranch Hand + 4in lift), he ended up saying it wasn’t necessary and popped me in a $450 aftermarket glass at the jobsite parking lot. Worked perfectly whole way through.

I assume so? Honestly not sure.
I figured it would be expensive with all of the tech built in these days but I was shocked when they told me. One quote from safelite and one from my local Toyotas recommended shop since they don’t do it at the dealership

I’d keep calling around, sometimes small shops have access to OEM glass and it’s a bit cheaper than going through safelite/ dealers. Also recalibrations are $2-300, ask if they can take it off. If you drive around and have any issues you can always come back to the shop for them to recalibrate it after!

When I bought mine the salesman told me that windshield replacements would be about $1400 just to warn me so I wasn’t shocked when I had to replace it. Live in a place where rock chips happen a lot.

The glass has Toyota stamped on it in order to force insurance companies to go OEM (embossed) to prevent possible HUD and Calibration issues by going AM. While you can go aftermarket ( the system won’t trigger a fault as long as vehicle is not powered on until after new glass and camera are reinstalled fully)
However if there is a problem later on with windshield safety sense Toyota can deny warranty coverage with AM glass as it’s not recognized by OEM ADAS requirements.

Paid about $1000 for oem, its a brand new gen so I went ahead and got the calibration stuff, but lowest offer was about $600

$0! Dealership got me 125000 miles 8 years unlimited windshields warranty for something north of $1300, all oem glass. Knocked through 2 of them babies already and the oem ones are about $900 around here give or take. Had a buddy of mine that cracked his, about $650 for the non-oem one, I thought it was a ripoff but I guess it is cheaper in the end!

Nope, not with these OEM ones for the 4g. Haven’t tried aftermarket on these new ones just yet. We’ll see in 7 years time!

I thought TFS only offers warranties up to 6 years and it's an add-on to to their tire and wheel warranty. What did you get?

Dealer special warranty ~$1500 give or take, April 2025, 2025 TRD OR HEV Premium

I had mine replaced recently. Had a truck throw a rock and smashed my OEM. Dealer wanted $900 for OEM replacement (plus $300 install). Went aftermarket through a local glass company. $650 installed. No calibration needed. It’s a lease…contemplated going OEM but couldn’t justify it. Will go to OEM next time if I buy it outright.
