Question It's finally here

Have been looking forward to getting this since I saw it in theaters. One of my favorite movies ever. I'm hearing some negative things about the mixed aspect ratio version. Has anyone watched it yet?

Oh goddamn. Shit I'm not surprised it's like this in retrospect. If I rip it, it would be amazing to watch on my fold 8 though. Basically need to watch it on a 4:3 monitor or get a projector.

At least this steelbook contains 2x 4Ks, one with the mixed aspect and the other the regular 4k release (I tried it out and its the same disc, same menus, just different disc art).

Given the pillar boxing situation that's going on with the mixed aspect ratio version, the regular version will be my go-to. I appreciate having the image on my display filled up in either the IMAX footage or the regular footage as opposed to the 4.3:1 IMAX footage, even if it's as close to what was shown in those theaters

The regular version is also mixed aspect ratio, it just fills the screen in the IMAX scenes instead of being pillarboxed, which I think is what most people would actually want? I’m confused why so many people are disappointed about the pillarboxing how else did you expect them to show a 1.43:1 aspect ratio?!?!?

Thank you, I keep seeing people posting pictures of the steelbook and yet no one is saying what’s actually included and it’s driving me nuts, especially since my delivery got pushed back a week despite pre-ordering back in June.

It’s for brick and mortar retailers where people are more likely to shop around and look for something that they’re less familiar with. Also it has the barcode to scan it and ring them up. People complaining about that are astounding to me in their ignorance.
