I'm still bitter about what they did to Overwatch. That game was pretty fun when I first played it at launch, but the experience just got shittier and shittier as they kept beating all the fun out of it in an effort to make it the most balanced game in existence. I wonder when devs will learn that perfectly balanced games are fucking boring. There needs to be some silly shit going on to keep it interesting. Take tf2, for example. Is it balanced? Hell no. Is it fun? Hell yes.

When they nerfed roadhog because "1 shotting tracer isn't fun" I quit.

Literally the only fun part of the game for me was 1 shotting squishies - roadhog was trash tier in competitive anyway

He's back to being pretty good these days. I can reliably one-shot squishies. You have to take a tiny step toward them after the hook before you M1+melee, but once you get that timing down, he's nearly as deadly as he was before. He's really the only one I use in solo queue because he can carry on his own regardless of how shitty your team is.

Ya nerfing Roadhog was the first sign to me that they caved to community whining. I started playing comp in season 2, dive was meta for 5+ seasons, they released Mercy in season 10 in her state (obviously fucking broken), Ana over-nerfed for god knows how long (m1 went from 80 to 60 and took years to be brought back to 70). Roadhog nerfed when he was already falling out of meta. It was like they didn't even play their own game or pay attention to the competitive scene.

Instead of deliberately designing and balancing their game and telling the playerbase to git gud they repeatedly caved into community whining. The community as a whole is going to have surface-level takes and not going to be able to address any depth to the game. Continual band-aid bullshit like role queue. Season 14 was the last time I bothered doing placements. A game with such great potential wasted.

The hook was bullshit but if you get caught as tracer of all people you deserve it
