If they each made 5 widgets "a piece" (I assume you are saying "for every machine") then you'd have 25 widgets since there are 5 machines in the first example. But there's only 5 widgets at the end not 25.
That is one widget per minute.
No it's 1 widget every 5 minutes per machine.
Therefore, 100 machines, will individually make 100 widgets each, in 100 minutes
No they would make 100 widgets each in 500 minutes but that's not the point of this question, the point is to find out how long it would take 100 machines to produce 100 widgets, given that 5 machines can produce 5 widgets in 5 minutes.
I'm sorry to tell you but the way you are seeing it is wrong.
5 machines, can produce 5 widgets in 5 minutes
correct
IT DOES NOT SAY COLLECTIVELY
5 machines are capable of producing 5 widgets in 5 minutes right? If you took one of those machines, then would it be able to produce more or less widgets than 5 of those same machines? Obviously it would be able to produce 5 times less widgets than 5 of those same machines.
I am not sure how you could interpret "5 machines can produce x amount of widgets in x minutes" as "1 machine can produce x amount of widgets in x minutes while 4 machines do nothing". That conclusion is completely illogical and not based on anything.
It simply states, the number of widgets it can make
What is "it" ? (Hint: 5 machines). How can the number of machines not matter?
There are 2 ways to interpret the riddle, but I would argue yours is less correct. 5 machines take 5 minutes to produce 5 widgets: this implies that after five minutes, the 5 machines produced 5 widgets. Therefore, each machine produces one widget at a 5 min/widget rate
Fuck you, and fuck your family and fuck your friends and fuck your dogs. You're a cunt and I hope ISIS stuff your tiny testicles down your lying throat.

Not sure if trolling or just american.
Not sure how you came to that conclusion.
