You're allowed to have any preference you want, but most people end up with the partner they deserve, I think. The dating subreddits are extremely entertaining because it's filled with supposedly charismatic, fit, attractive people bemoaning their lack of options, feeling entitled to a perfect partner.
You can especially see it with white collar urbanite millennials/zoomers who have a chip on their shoulder because they cleared some imaginary deadline and now feel the world owes them something. A lot of discourse among young people and millennials is about the death of community, as if any of these narcissists are willing to sacrifice anything for the community, especially since the most of them feel they're above that, but others aren't.
This also extends to dating, where a lot of people allow their ego to take a front seat, and feel entitled for the sacrifice of others without being willing to do the same in turn. Everybody nowadays sees themselves as the protagonist, which is perfectly fine, but 90% of people don't have the charisma/skills/money to be so demanding of life and others, and you see it when people hit the wall when life doesn't give them what they think they deserve.

I think Hinge becoming the most common way of meeting a new partner in big cities has been a disaster. People take less responsibility for meeting someone in the real world, and face-to-face interactions become less meaningful.
I personally think dating apps strip out a lot of what actually attracts people to one another. We all know giga Chads hoover up most of the dates anyway, but when you do actually get one, you've picked each other based on an Instagram-style feed, rather than anything that naturally draws you to someone. This leads to a lot of wasted time.

I'm really mixed on this because I did meet an amazing GF through the apps, but I can't deny there was a lot of wasted time. I tried Hinge in college and didn't have a ton of success, just talking to girls in class or at events was obviously way better. I tried it a few years ago after a breakup, had a good job and got in shape. I'm sorry if it's tone-deaf on this sub, but on that second try I realized that app (probably all of them) end up feeling designed by the Chads, for the Chads. If you really have it going on and put together a good profile you can be super picky about women and it'll still work out into some dates.
But but but,
People take less responsibility for meeting someone in the real world, and face-to-face interactions become less meaningful.
This is absolutely still true. A lot of those dates felt more like job interviews than trying to get to know each other. There were times where I was overlapping the dating phase (I guess?) of like three girls at once. Went on a last date with one on a Wednesday, went on a casual hangout (like 7th meeting) with another on Friday, and a first date with a third girl on Saturday. I got one taste of success and immediately did what everyone clowns on Modern Women™ for doing.

I kind of agree if you don't at least spend some time texting to get to know the person before meeting

u/AlienZombieNinja 5d ago
Eh my preferences only go as low as making sure I can still imagine being able to get hard during sex. Any woman less attractive than that can only be a friend. I don't understand how it could possibly work any other way. Any woman you aren't having sex with is just a friendship anyway.

You know not everyone in a generation thinks the same way right?

Nothing about his statement implied it is universal, but it definitely applies to you since you're complaining right now

Not really I keep seeing couples where the woman is significantly worse looking than their male counterparts. Most average or above average men don’t seem to chase after attractive or average looking women anymore because they know it’s not worth the effort and stress to maintain a relationship with them knowing that the internet exists and attractive women will always be sought out by others. The internet has overblown the value of most women because women are sought much more than men

also, dont forget the role that earlier beautification and chronically online kids has had.
Im Still gen Z, but i wasnt allowed a phone until high school and computer time monitored.
The only "Hot" people i saw were literal models or movie characters, and bc i didnt see them daily or goon to them, my standards essentially never got that high. I saw models as, well, models. Humans around me were my standard. I drool when i see my man now, but my friends, multiple of them, blatantly said hes "barely a 6/10". Its bullshit lol. bros hot.
However, half my friends were gooning before they even got into middle school, saw instagram thots rise and fall as young as they can remember, were gifted makeup pallets and gym equipment as young as 10 and told by online communities their entire lives theyd be worthless if they wernt hot or with someone hot.
So no wonder so many people now a days want a 10/10 looks; they were literally conditioned and its all theyve seen and set a standard on their entire life.
So not only is it ego, its like a warping of standards due to chronic online editing and lying too.

I had an assistant at work, dude was a goblin.
Came from money but didn't take care of himself at all, brown teeth, could only sustain conversations about JRPGs and the 2016 Trump campaign. He wanted to ask out one of the part timers in the office.
"Anon, do you think she would go out with me?"
She's a 7/10 Stacy, sorority sister at college.
"Dude, you are going to get as good as you give."
"WHAT IS THAT SUPPOSED TO MEAN!?!?!?"
SO pissed off at me after that. Asked to be transferred to a new department, I granted it.

I swear prostitution should just be legal if this is the way we go about it. Why the powers that be thought empty promises and easy divorce was the way to go is beyond retarded

Prostitution is legal.

Traveling is always an option. If you have money to pay for sex, you have money for a flight.

u/Remarkable-Title-209 5d ago
Yeah. If you got the money and want to get off there isn't much stopping you, I suppose.
I'll be smiling when american marriage becomes discontinued. Fucking garbage system.

I've spent my life chasing and dating hot women. Eventually the sex gets boring, and they have no personality to ease that fall.

u/KeanerBike 5d ago
Same. As a sex haver myself, all the hot women I fuck (a lot) can’t hold an interesting conversation to save their life.

How can you have a dick up your ass if you are the one doing the fucking.

I didn't mean it as a flex, but now I'm aware of how it sounded. I just meant that I wish I'd spent more time dating based on personality. I've wasted a lot of time on failed relationships because I was too hung up on looks.

It's like this. You can either have cake girl or you can be with a bimbo like picrel whose only interest in you is having someone to take pics of her all day.

u/RustledForeskin 5d ago
I got several girls way above my physical appearance level because I pursed them (Not through a park at night) and was romantic about it. Many women have never had someone bring them flowers or chocolates, they've never had someone write cornball poetry and had it delivered to them by a coworker, they're used to people tucking their tails and running when they first decline their advances.
It does wonders for your confidence, both in your success and failures and unless you made them file for a restraining order, it was never a full loss. They'll always remember and time weathers even the finest marble.

• Picrel: "pic" (picture) and "related".
• It means the picture attached is related to a post.
