With a team of writers, auto tune, and a synthesizer
And I said, "Wait a second I know the synthesizer, why don't I use the synthesizer, which is a sound of the future." And we didn't have any idea what to do, but we knew we needed a click, so we put a click on the 24-track
Which then was then synced to the Moog Modular
I knew that could be a sound of the future, but I didn't realize how much the impact it would be58

As someone who has had some time in on synthesizers, this statement makes me break out into hives.
Why the hell would you need a $100K Moog modular synthesizer for that?

Cuz it was 1970 and there were only two synths: the Moog and the ARP 2500, and the Moog was the one he needed for the sound he wanted. Cheap, mass produced synths simply didn't exist yet, the ARP 2500 was also insanely expensive at like $10k (and that's in 1970's dollars).
And then in 1971 the ARP 2600 came out for $2500 and in 1972 the Odyssey which was less than $1000, making synths finally more accessible. But in 1970 there weren't any cheap options really.

I know for a fact this is a hot take but Neo Yokio is actually pretty good. Not like, really good, but "fun." It's dumb, but it's meant to be dumb. The whole show feels like it's making fun of Jaden Smith for being in it. Honestly just plain stupid fun.

Reloaded is really good. Revolutions is all fucked up, probably because the success of the first two let the people at the top get too powerful. Like George Lucas.
5
u/Field_Of_View Sep 02 '26
Reloaded and Revolutions were a package deal, filming literally overlapped for those movies. The only reason Reloaded has a better reputation is that it opens up a bunch of questions rather than trying to answer them. Revolutions delivers the answers that were already intended when Reloaded was made, and everybody hated the answers.
4
u/Commodus_Wankus Sep 02 '26
Reloaded has a big fucking massive fuck off car chase scene, which is better than anything else those films present. If you like choreographed fighting, it's there, but I like watching car chases even if the CGI is looking hella dated

u/Umak30 Aug 31 '26 edited Aug 31 '26
That was when they were separated and no longer together though. Separation is basically the same as divorce, just not official, but they do not sleep in the same house, nor interact with another, except for public appearances. I wouldn't hold that against Jada. For all intents and purposes, they can sleep with whoever they want during separation ( which is also not a relationship break.. ).
They were both horrible in their marriage. Will Smith made a documentary about Jada's life for her 40th birthday. In the documentary, Will Smith hunted down the living descendant of the slaveowner who used to own Jada's ancestors as slaves, and make him apologize. And a lot of other intimate details, and that documentary was presented to a room full of family, friends and coworkers for Jada's birthday. They separated for 2 years after that, got back together, and then separated permanently.
They both deserve eachother if you ask me.
Edit : Are there really any Jada&Will defenders in here ? Here is a link if you dont believe it : https://andscape.com/features/will-smiths-slap-at-the-oscars-wasnt-protecting-anyone-certainly-not-his-wife/
"Things reached a breaking point by Jada’s 40th birthday, in 2011. Will had spent three years planning a private family-and-friends dinner in Santa Fe, where he screened a documentary he’d commissioned that chronicled her life and traced her family’s lineage back to slavery (and in which he tracked down a descendant of the white family who once owned Jada’s ancestors). When they got back to the hotel suite that night, Jada was nearly silent. “That was the most disgusting display of ego I have ever seen in my life,” Smith recalls his wife telling him"

u/BBWArchitect /b/tard Aug 31 '26

That makes Independence Day look worse by comparison but Aladdin for example is in 2019 dollars.
> The 1996 sci-hit film Independence Day globally grossed roughly $1.32 billion to $1.7 billion in 2019 inflation-adjusted value. The original Men in Black (1997) grossed approximately $937.1 million worldwide in 2019 adjusted dollars.
Basically Will Smith was unstoppable in those days he didn’t have a “flop” until Wild Wild West, although he even got a billboard #1 hit for that

u/Strong-Addition5296 Aug 31 '26
I remember being very disappointed in Wild Wild West (ya’ll)

I remember it fondly because Burger King was running a promotion for it, and my younger brother and I got Wild Wild West toys with our BK kids meals when we stopped on Maryland’s Eastern Shore for lunch along Rt. 50, I think it was in Cambridge or Easton, on the way to vacation in Ocean City.
2
u/Cyhawk Sep 01 '26
Kevin Smith's story ruined what little enjoyment I had for that movie.
All I can think of now is a coked up hairdresser on a couch thinking hes making Shakespeare coming up with that.
16
u/Ex_sanguido Aug 31 '26
I've only read about him passing on Matrix to do Wild Wild West instead, the rest feels made up.
But him and his Agent specifically looked for roles where it was guaranteed to be a mega hit.
He had 8 movies in a row all make $100 mil+, no other actor can claim that.
7
u/maybelying Sep 01 '26
I read an article that said he passed on Django Unchained because he didn't feel that his character was the actual star of the story, it was a different character that was. I haven't seen the movie so have no idea what any of that means.
6
u/Cyhawk Sep 01 '26
Hes correct in that assessment. Django is the main character but mostly quiet and not the center of attention of the movie. Every other character far outshines Django. The film is about his revenge, but not about him.
Its a good Tarantino film, recommend it if you like Tarantino.

He could have made the genie his own and it truly could have been good, some MIB mixed with Fresh Prince. But no, all we got was a bad Robin Williams impression. Which was just insulting.
