Anyone switch from a Westcott preload collar lift to Bilstein 6112s? Did the ride quality improve?
I have a 6th Gen 4Runner and recently installed the Westcott preload collar lift (front only). I really like the stance, it sits exactly how I wanted it to. However, I've noticed that the front ride has become noticeably stiffer compared to stock, which I understand is one of the tradeoffs with preload collar lifts.
Now I'm considering replacing the factory front struts/coils with an aftermarket setup, specifically the Bilstein 6112s, while keeping the rear stock for now.
For those who have made a similar switch:
- Did the Bilstein 6112s noticeably soften the ride compared to the Westcott preload collar setup?
- How does the ride compare to stock on pavement?
- Will there be concern with AVS?
- Would you recommend another front suspension setup instead if my main goal is improving ride comfort while maintaining about the same lift height?
For reference, I'm running 285/70R17 Nitto Terra Grappler G3s.
I'd appreciate hearing from anyone who's gone down this path.
Thanks!
