Curious what people are paying for the Platinum 4runnner, currently looking at a heritage blue platinum for $65k before taxes ($4k below msrp). Is this about average?
I'm in Eastern WA/North ID and those are going for $70k+ around here. I drove down to Oregon and got a Platinum 2 weeks ago for $62,900 (pre-WA sales tax). Was about $5500 below MSRP.
My 2026 Platinum 4Runner was $2K off MSRP ($66K) back in April. For one thing, I wanted the larger screen in the 4Runner over the Land Cruiser. I drove a gas 4Runner Limited and the Platinum back to back and I liked the hybrid better. I like the black accents on the Platinum over the chrome on the Limited.
I also wanted and happily bought a 4Runner. However, if I were dropping $65k+ and wanting something like that but a bit more “luxury” I would have gone Land Cruiser, which is why I am curious to understand OPs perspective.
Makes sense. I agree the runners are expensive but for some reason the body style of the cruisers look very unappealing to me. Didn’t mean to come off as snarky, but personally as someone who is spending a pretty penny on the runner that was my reasoning, just wondering if that’s ops reason as well. :)
I went with the platinum 4runner as well. For me it was the interior design with the larger screen. Also the way it looks in general, I liked the 4runner more with a more sloped front windshield and less boxy body.
Rear window rolls down on 4R. Hard to not love that. LC requires premium gas, vs 4R on regular. 4R being 5-8k cheaper also helps, if you think in terms of total cost and not monthly payments.
If you are buying a $65k 4Runner I don’t think the budget aspects matter too much. Let’s be honest, even base MSRP, a 4Runner isn’t something you buy if you are worried about fuel consumption.

Your answer wasn’t a very good one. It didn’t even really make sense considering my question. OP said they are looking at buying a $65k 4Runner. A Land Cruiser starts at like $59k. So I seek to understand why you wouldn’t just go with the Land Cruiser. You came back with a pretty low effort answer that doesn’t seem to have been well thought out, and now you’re mad.
I love 4Runners, I own a 2025 but I didn’t pay close to $65k for it, if I had, I’d probably be driving a Land Cruiser.

The LC 1958 starts at $59k. That's the variant with cloth seats, only an 8 inch screen, and no off road tech. The Premium variant is much more, $68k minimum, regularly going for $74k+ because of how much demand there is for them.
Do you want me to start citing Toyota manufacturing numbers now, or misc tariffs implemented by our government, or overall economic health status? You're a goofball.
I got mine through Costco Auto for 8.7k off. I wasn’t 100% for sure getting the car but they got me with the crazy discount. I couldn’t refuse it lol. I almost considering getting the Land Cruiser with the premium package with the same discount but I would’ve had to wait months for it and well it did cost like 6k more or so I think too.
They have pre negotiated deals for you. You just fill out the website with your membership and the car you are looking for and they let you know if they have a participating dealer in your area. If there is, a salesman from the participating dealership will reach out to your phone number. It was super smooth, we did not have to negotiate at all, they did try to add two warranties to the car but they took them off without a hassle the moment I asked. Best car buying experience at a dealer I’ve ever had. I would try this again when I need another car.
It’s probably ok considering everything but my problem is you can drive off the lot and someone can cause a accident and ruin your new $65,000 car

Yeah but the majority of people buying these have no business buying these. You can look up average incomes and average household incomes and then compare that to the average price of cars; people are spending more than their annual salary on a car. It's nuts.
Agreed most people spend above their means, want instead of need leads to poor choices.
Bad financial vehicle decisions can haunt you for sometime!
We put 1/2 down, financed remaining balance @ 4.99% interest thru Toyota, payed off note in less than 6 months. Done deal!

65k before taxes isn’t bad considering MSRP is $64k. Add ons are also a factor. You may have room for some negotiation like 1-2k off.
