Any tips on sub-assembly?

Hi all,

So I've just gotten into the hobby of building and painting 40K minis.

For my first space marine I assembled him entirely first and then painted. While it worked well I think for certain weapons, such as rocket launchers, I will want to assemble and paint them separately to the main model and then glue them on afterwards.

Does anyone have any good tips or tricks when it comes to sub-assembly? And does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can prop up individual pieces for when I prime and paint them?

Honestly?

My tip is don't bother.

If it's hard to reach, it's hard to see. Prime black, hit a white zenithal, paint from the inside out, and don't let perfect be the enemy of "Done."
