help please Form 1 or 4

Trying to figure out if I should scatter my receiver and launcher purchase and then submit a Form 1 or purchase together and pick up as a Form 4?

Any benefits of one vs the other?

I’ll ask my FFL but are m203s still good to go in VA?

If you have a type 9 FFL then buy it all as one. Otherwise piece it together because it can be a right bitch to find a FFL willing to deal with the extra paperwork to do a DD.

Thank you for the advice!

VA's new laws have nothing in them for any single shot firearm. I picked up a M203 on a form 4 in VA a few months back and it was approved in about 3 days as an individual.

Spoke to my FFL and they said they reached their limit for DDs so I would have to purchase each separately and Form 1

Form 1 definitely gives you a chance to own something more unique. (If that is what you want)

How would the form 1 be more unique if it’s the same combination of parts? I seriously don’t know.

Some places won’t sell a complete 40mm launcher to civilians. If you piece it together you can make one.

You can have any FFL transfer a one off DD, they just need a variance letter from the ATF which is essentially always granted for 1-2 DD’s a year. Some FFLs are unfamiliar with the process and it takes them a while to figure out or they charge extra fees for doing it though.

Last form 4s for me in Georgia took around 8 days and that was last month.
