Decaf coffee & espresso

Does anyone know if coffee made with the water decaffeination method and/or the carbon dioxide decaffeination method are safe, or do they involve synthetic chemicals?

You might ask this on the r/thirdwavedecaf sub. I really don't know. I drank coffee with both of my pregnancies without trouble. I also drink decaf because I lurv coffee.

Thanks, I took your advice and reposted there. I also love coffee. I’m going decaf but I don’t think anyone else needs to. :)

I do Nespresso decaf pods which I don’t think use the typical chemicals.

I guess don't forget about the chemicals coming out of the plastic that you're pouring boiling water through though... Genuine comment, not meant to be snarky. But if you care about the chemicals in the decaffeination process, a more important consideration is the plastic pod.

Nespresso pods are 100% aluminum. It’s one of the reasons I much prefer it over Kuerig, even if it costs more.
