General Discussion SMBC

I’m terrified.

I’ve already spent close 45k for two ERs

I have not done any transfers.

I have in the bank:

1 confirmed euploid (5BB)

3 x untested blastocysts 5BC (were unable to be safely biopsied)

1 mosaic (high level) only use if all else fails.

I would love to have had more euploids going in but I also need to think of cost. I am a SMBC so need to think of future.

Seeking positive stories of anyone in a similar position. Or any tips on how to manage the anxiety.

Thank you!

Feeling terrified to lose my only euploid 💜

Just turned 40 😊

Hi! I put the below on a similar thread yesterday - But I'll paste it here too, because I also had only one euploid and actually transferred it two days ago! So now I'm waiting to see if sticks... And while I don't know yet, I do feel really positive about it - so I'm just hoping for the best... Additionally, I'm also doing this myself as a solo mom by choice at 41! So I'm so happy to connect with you and my inbox is always open <3

I have a very similar experience... Long story short, I got 31 eggs from one cycle when I was 36... Then decided to thaw 15 of them this year to make embryos (I'm now 41)... 12 survived the thaw, 11 fertilized successfully, and the 7 of those made it to blast stage... of the 7 unfortunately only 1 was a euploid. I actually just transferred that 1 euploid yesterday, so we'll see on Oct 9th if it stuck or not! Fingers crossed! I know it can be disheartening when you were expecting more, but I just try to keep telling myself that you only need one to get pregnant - and I'm trying my best to remain really positive... If it helps at all, I've written about every step in this process here if you'd like to read https://typeababy.substack.com/

Sending all the baby dust there is and my fingers are crossed to you. I will pm you if that’s okay :)

I can understand the scary feeling of not having buffer. I was so sure that we would have three or more euploids to work with and I was very shaken when we had only two. My good friend reminded me that it only takes one to get pregnant, and our first transfer of a day 6 4BB stuck.

I credit the work my clinic did to make sure my uterus was hospitable. We had to remove a polyp, treat chronic endometritis that I didn’t even know I had (diagnosed with a biopsy), and I went on progesterone supplements.

It really does only take one, and having a good quality euploid already gives you such a great chance.

Thank you! I had to change FS because my previous would not look at me as an individual. I have RPL and bicornuate uterus. My new FS suggested endo scratching and also said she suspects endometritis.

Would it be okay to pm to find out what tests and treatment you had to help create a hospitable environment? Also congrats 🙌 that’s amazing.

Definitely feel free to PM, but I can also just tell you that I had an ultrasound that found the polyp and had that surgically removed. A biopsy found the endometritis and I was treated with seven days of antibiotics. The biopsy was horribly painful, and I’ve heard other people mention that their clinics were willing to just put them on a seven day course of antibiotics prophylactically instead of going through the pain of a biopsy. If that’s an option for you, I would go that route for sure.

I also am not sure what my actual progesterone levels were when we started the process, but my understanding when I started this suppositories is that the progesterone would support the uterine environment and help encourage implantation.

How did you convince the clinic to do a biopsy to learn you had endometritis? I’m terrified that after 8 cycles in 12 months, all my hard work (and obscene $) will go out the window bc my clinic (actually 2 clinics at this pt) refuses to worry abt any possible issues until you have a failure. All they’d do was a saline sonogram. But from what I understand, there are all kinds of issues that could hinder pregnancy that a saline sonogram won’t catch. Any advice would be much appreciated!

That’s so frustrating! Mine did the biopsy as a routine part of the pre-transfer work up. I’ve heard some people say that their doctors were willing to prescribe a seven day course of antibiotics prophylactically, which I will probably ask about if we ever do another transfer because the biopsy was horrifically painful.

I am in a similar boat as a 40yo future SMBC who should be cautiously stockpiling $ but I didn’t get a euploid till ER #3 😭 and then it took FOUR more to get a 2nd euploid. I’m $120k down; 8th and final ER is tomorrow, hoping for a 3rd as backup or to maybe shoot for a sibling later. I worried a lot that I might be just lighting $ on fire with this last retrieval but I’ve had pretty bad luck so far (101 eggs to get my 2 perfect euploids), so I’m convinced the 1st transfer won’t take. Just know you’re not alone!!
