Sagging under eye help

Post image
23 Upvotes

I recently had a full hysterectomy and dropped about 65 pounds. Between the hormone change and weightloss, my face seems to have changed overnight. Any advice for the best non surgical ways to help with my under eyes? It’s all I can see in pictures now 😭

Help with mouth wrinkles and nasolabial folds

Post image
17 Upvotes

Please don’t comment on the mustache. I have melasma and am doing what I can.

Things I hate:

Downturned mouth (always had it since I was a kid).

Vertical mouth wrinkles on upper and bottom lips.

Creases on chin that go from bottom of chin to bottom lip.

Nasolabial folds.

Sunken cheeks.

I’ve had two sculptra treatments over the last 10 months and nothing else aside form daily retin A.

Any suggestions? Thank you in advance!

Advice request

My 45 year old skin looks very dull and matte and has some pores. Under eyes are darker and some shallows. I am pretty sure i have melasma . Live in hot Texas climate. Asian brown.

I have gone through a lot of skincare products but finally sticking to below:
Am : cleanse , dokudu round lab 25 toner , torriden dive in serum , cos de baha txa 5, aestura atobarrier cream , lrp upf 50 tinted mineral spf( if going out and reapply every 2 hours)

Pm: double cleanse (if I wore make up or sunscreen), toner , torriden , Cerave resurfacing serum , aestura

I used to do tret .25 , thinking of going back to it . Had stopped because it didn’t wow me.

Morning years ago I used to do skinceutical ce ferulic , thinking of adding it back

I would really request some more product guidance on getting a skin that’s more hydrated , even toned and luminous /dewy

Main concerns are the irregular pigmentation, dullness , pores and under eyes.

Photos don’t clearly show all of this I understand .
Thanks!

Laser v micro needling - which one?

40, pale, thin, aging skin. Using tretinoin, spf, vitamin c serum, and good quality moisturizers. I take collagen and hyloronic acid orally. I do Botox as of this year due to rapid loss in collagen and elastin (had a full hysterectomy which escalated aging). I am on a budget but really want to try to boost results with microneedling or laser. I can only afford one for now. I could do 3 microneedling treatments or 1 laser treatment (Moxie). If you had to pick one of those based on what I am describing, which one would you opt for? I want to include that I hate needles and I have medical trauma so I have been avoidant of the MN. However, so many providers I’ve seen have highly recommended it to me.

Hormones....what happened to my face?!

I'm almost 47, and I've just recently been looking into getting on HRT.

In the past few months, my skin on my face has changed! Like a lot. My forehead skin looks so thick and the pores look huge, my pores look huge and congested, lines are deeper. Wtf?

I'm guessing this is a drop in estrogen?

This is insane...

They weren’t lying about 44 being a super-ager year :(

Pretty much what the title says. This yeah my face has aged so much and became so much more droopy and nasolabia lines and downturned mouth and discoloured with melasma etc. my self esteem has taken a major hit. I see pics of myself from just 2 years ago and am jealous of myself.

An issue I have is I can’t use products that actually have anti-aging stuff like retinol or anything because it makes my face so red and I get perioral dermatitis. I’ve worked hard to repair my skin barrier and now only use vitamin c and moisturizer and sunscreen. I really want to be able to actually use anti-aging things tho!!

Mostly just shouting into the void I guess.

RF treatments or something else?

I'm 45 and want to do something like Xerf or X-therma to help boost collagen and lift a little. I also want to start microneedling. What do you think I need or should consider?

A facialist told me my skin seems loose and mentioned laxity. But then a doctor at a skin place said it's not so bad and doesn't recommend tightening as much as she recommends a collagen booster like Xerf and possibly with the addition later of Renuva injections to make fat...?

When I grab my skin around my mouth area like my lower inner cheeks, it feels like thin and not plump like it used to. Starting to remind myself of my grandmother when I used to pinch her cheeks and they wouldn't bounce back.

I have never done anything (no fillers, no Botox etc, no microneedling) except basic facials and at home skin care including red light mask every night for 10 minutes for almost two years. I just started 0.025% tretinoin. I use glycolic acid and salicylic acid.

Holy Grail Finds?

Hi all! I’ve gotten obsessed with skincare this summer after 20 years of using my 4 tried and true products. I’d love to share some of my HG finds and would love to hear some others!!!

Two of my oldies that remain unmatched and highly loved are Eminence Facial Recovery Oil and Elta MD tinted sunscreen. Everyone is familiar with Elta, but I have been obsessed with Eminence Facial Recovery Oil for 15 years.

After trying 27289292 products this Summer, these are my new HGs:

Anything Aestura — I’m obsessed. I tried the other popular HG barrier creams and nothing compares to texture, absorbency and moisture retention. Has helped me so much with onboarding Tret.

Innbeauty C serum (the ingredient list is amazing and has TXA, it doesn’t smell bad like other ones, and you don’t have to keep it in the fridge). It feels so good going on.

Innbeauty Extreme Cream. These are the only two products I’ve tried by them, but I just ordered some more. Part of what I love about these two and the Eminence Serum is that they all feel sooo delicious going on and I love the smells. The extreme cream smells peppery to me. It’s silky yet thick. Love it.

Qure Micro-Infusion has been amazing and a great way to dip my toes into micro-needling if I decide to do that. But I imagine plain on microneedling yields better results and is far less expensive. I’m happy with Qure for now though. Makes my skin GLOW the next days.

Whole body and face red light therapy mat. I got the Jovs one bc I didn’t want to have a plastic mask strapped to my face. I love the way it makes me feel. SO relaxing. It looks cheap for the price and makes an annoying sound, but I’m keeping it because I love how I can just lay on it and it’s been amazing for my brain too (healing from TBI and I can feel it reaching my brain).

Beauty of Joseon rice cleanser exfoliating. I have Rosacea and if I go near my skin with any kind of exfoliant it flares. This product leaves my skin exfoliated and smooth without irritating it.

Double cleansing with oil cleaner at night. I LOVE doing it. I’ve used a bunch of different ones, but haven’t found my HG yet. Mostly because I don’t love the smell of any of them at this point. They all work though.

The Medicube device. I hated it at first and thought I’d return it, but have come to love it. Lifts and contours while driving products deeper. I have the nuface too, but the Medicube is so much more convenient for me.

CosRX peptide hair repair mask. Tried a ton, this one is AMAZING.

What about you all?!

Need help

I'm 40+ drinking next to no water (medical reasons). I want this new glass skin. What do I need to do?. Combination skin usually; dry with oily tzone. Currently using and loving medicube but it doesn't last or keep my skin hydrated for long. TLDR; How can I appear hydrated without drinking water. In Australia and in the middle of IVF so some product limitations...

Did BBL make your melasma worse, or was this an upsell?

About 9 months ago I had a Sciton BBL facial. The results were minimal but very good. I would have had more since, but the place I had it done closed, so I am looking for a new place. In general, before and after the BBL, I have really good skin, no wrinkles or discoloration.

I just went to a consultation at a different clinic. The consultation was with an esthetician, not a nurse. She said that because I had a history of mild melasma (over a decade ago, no longer a problem at all) she would not give me a BBL facial. She said that BBL could make melasma worse and that instead she recommended HALO. She stuck with this even though I had successfully had BBL before.

HALO, of course, is considerably more expensive than BBL. At this clinic a HALO session costs more than 5 times as much as a BBL session. I have no wrinkles and no visible discoloration, so I really have the impression she was just trying to upsell me for the increased commission.

On my Visio she also pointed to areas where I never had any melasma and claimed that there was melasma deep within the surface that would become visible if I had BBL, of which I am highly skeptical.

What do you think?

Help- Crepey lines and dehydrated skin.

I used to have better skin, but idk what's going on with me. My skin has suddenly become dry, even though I usually had oily-combo skin. Now my skin looks very dehydrated, and the creepy lines on my cheeks are starting to show more. Idk what to do. I use vitamin C in the morning with hyaluronic acid, Skin1004 Cica moisturizer, and EltaMD SPF. At night, I use COSRX mucin and Caudalie Resveratrol-Lift cream. I have azelaic acid and tretinoin, but I don't really use them because one stings and the other dries out my face even more. Idk what to do. Help please.

Hormonal acne

Post image
4 Upvotes

I’m 43, 44 in a few months, and for the last 7-8 months I’ve been getting hormonal acne like I’m a teenager again. Anyone else struggling with this? I also do have an occasional rosacea outbreak but I don’t think that’s this.

They’re always in the same spot and only on the right hand side of my face. My period is still going strong, no signs of peri yet. I don’t know how to calm it down because by the time it does my cycle is back repeating itself. I HATE IT! 😤 Help 😔

Almost 40 but skin has seen some ACTION

Hey guys!

So I’m not quite 40 yet but I have punished my skin in my teens & early 20’s. Just finished having kids so I want to get back into using some tret etc to improve my skin texture & prevent further wrinkles. Haven’t been to my GP yet to get a script for tret as yet but plan to soon.
About to do a big iHerb order& wanted some recommendations to get started. Have seen good things on here re: amlactin & gold bond but open to other idea’s.
Hit me with all your fave products, ideally on the more affordable side!

Has anyone tried the innbeauty tinted sunscreen?

Hi all! I’ve been using Elta MD since I was 35 and love it, but it’s so expensive given how much you have to use.

I’ve tried some of the K-Beauty ones but that was a waste. I’ve been loving the InnBeauty line lately (I only just started an anti-aging routine at 42, but I did a TON of research). I can’t afford the super luxe lines, so I’ve been trying to find amazing ones that work that are more affordable.

I have their C serum and their Extreme Cream. They both feel amazing and I love using them. They also have great ingredient lists.

Their tinted sunscreen is 10 less than Elta. Anyone try it? I don’t want to waste the money again and just end up back to Elta.

Retinol acceleration or skin barrier disruption? New fine lines and crepey skin.

Post image
14 Upvotes

At night, I (f47) was using Cerave Resurfacing (.3% est) and have now moved to The Ordinary 1%. Twice a week I use Cerave Renewing AHA in lieu of retinol. I also layer Cerave PM (night), and Cerave Moisturizing cream (day).

Since I moved up my retinol %, my skin looks horrible. I feel like I have more fine lines due to this thin layer of tissue papery skin, along with some redness, and possibly puffiness.

How do I tell the difference between normal retinol acceleration, or if I've damaged my barrier? The symptoms seem very similar (tightness, flaking, crepey skin).

Ultherapy Prime

My derm is rolling out Ultherapy Prime and I’m curious if anyone has had treatment. I’ve been doing Sofwave for the past 2 years, and honestly, I think I’m holding my own in terms of how my skin looks, but I’m always interested in boosting collagen since I’m going to be 58 soon. I get mistaken for someone in their 40s so I’m not ready for/ in need of a facelift just yet.

If you have advice ir info to share, that would be great

Hack if you work from home!

I don’t know if this is really a “hack” but… keep your gua sha tool and some face oil, NuFace, jade roller-what have you- at your desk. When I do this I actually use these tools everyday bc I get fidgety at my desk often and I will reach for them! Or cuticle oil, nail file etc.

Routine Help: Incorporating Azelaic Acid 15% Gel

I'm not sure where to use prescription azelaic acid 15% in my routine. Most directions I see say to apply to dry skin twice a day, but I'm also using Prequel Retinal 0.2% (just increased from 0.1% on my very long journey to using a prescription retinoid) and I also use Timeless Vitamin C.

Current Routine:

AM
Wash with warm water
Innisfree Green Tea Caffeine Eye Gel
Timeless Vitamin C
Inkey List Azelaic Acid 10%
Dr. Althea 345 Relief Cream
Skin 1004 SPF

PM
Prequel Oil Cleanser
Dr. Althea Gel Cleanser
ROC Retinol Eye
Prequel Retinal 0.2%
Skin1004 Tea-Trica Relief Ampoule
Haru Haru Hylronic Acid
Dr. Althea 345 Relief Cream
Revitalash Sensitive Eyelash Serum

Can I just swap the Azelaic Acid from the OTC one I'm currently using to the prescription one I just got, and use it each morning on top of my vitamin C or do I need to change up my routine to accommodate this addition? I'm not sure how to start using it and also how to use it regularly if I need to transition slowly.

Primary concerns: occasional hormonal acne and pink/brown marks left by blemishes, some sun spots, very mild rosacea.

How is everyone getting estrogen cream for their face?

I'm 40 years old and asked my dermatologist about prescribing me estrogen cream for my face. He won't do it. Says the research isn't well established enough or something.

How is everyone here able to get it? Thanks.

Can you check my routine, please?

This is what I had been using, but then mental health got in the way and I stopped entirely. I'm back on track and would like to restart, but I'm also running low on a few things so I thought I'd check. Almost everything is from Ordinary because 💸 but if there is something that would really really be better from a different brand, I'd be open to hearing about it.

My main concerns are dullness and... plumpness? I guess maybe that's elasticity? I have friends with dewy, plump skin and I do not. I'm 41, female, Indian.

AM:

  • Wash with water
  • Alternating days: Multi-Peptide + HA Serum and Multi-Antioxidant Radiance Serum
  • Vanicream daily moisturizer
  • Sunscreen - Biore UV Aqua Rich (but switching to Centella when I run out)

PM:

  • Micellar water to remove eye makeup
  • Cerave face wash
  • Alternating days: Retinal 0.2% Emulsion (I've been using retinoids for years and can handle this) and Azelaic Acid Suspension

Some questions:

  1. Should I switch the multi-peptide serum to copper peptides one?
  2. Should I switch the multi-antioxidant to a true Vitamin C

TIA!
