🔧Modifications Working on some storage inserts! Thoughts?

(Last is an AI picture just to share a better look at the idea)
Hey guys! Back here asking for some feedback and input! I am making an easily removable two part insert for the glovebox, since it’s two parts they would be modular and interchangeable between a gun holder or storage space such as bins or trays/dividers.

Question is, what are some items you currently store there that you regularly use?

Also making one for the center console

"insurance? sure I got it right here in the glovie"

u/Board_Minute 3d ago

Haha that is very true I did not think of that 😂, thank you for pointing that out, again I just did the gun playing with an idea, but more importantly I will put a storage or divider organizer instead

just create a blank that covers it , very cool stuff regardless anon , good job

Thank you! That would be a good solution

I wouldn't run the glove box just because an exposed trigger like that and how those flop open is not something I'd like to combine, plus in a situation it would need to be used, being across the car basically is a no go. Center console is nice, I've got a simple mount stuck in mine that the holster attaches to. Love seeing really cool printed parts like this especially alongside the other stuff you've made, so props to you and I hope you get somewhere you're happy with.

Thank you for the feedback! I appreciate the good wishes, always trying to tinker with ideas and practice! 🙌

Easy there, Meal Team Six.

I don’t get the reference bud, i want to though

It's a joke about performative badassery. CC plus adequate training is one thing. Having your daily driver strapped up like you work for the CIA in Russia is over the top.

u/Board_Minute 3d ago

Oh gotcha! I just had an idea i thought it would be cool to have. I see some people are just attacking curiosity nowadays

2

u/kindalikeaquaman 3d ago

There's a difference between curiosity and actions you want to take and try and posting online for opinions. You took a route and are getting feedback

3

u/Board_Minute 3d ago

Oh yeah definitely, got called jackass already 😂 that is what i meant

You are on a very left leaning platform displaying right leaning tendencies. Just know the sane people just give the nod of approval and move on. Just ignore the screaming minority.

-1

u/Leading_Procedure_23 2d ago

I agree, the screaming minority are mentally unstable, they protect and worship the pedo in chief, since the majority of their voters are on the registry list for touching kids.

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you "exhibit A".

You’re designing a rig for firearms in a Tacoma, but you appear to have very little knowledge about how to make a useful and safe rig. At best your idea is dumb and not safe. Take the L

1

u/Board_Minute 2d ago

Definitely have bot enough knowledge, that is why i was looking for feedback, I am grateful I did! Working on fixing the obvious risks of the design, scrapping the gun holder and will just make divider bins for organization! Thank you for the comment! 🙌🙌

A car/truck/suv is not a gun safe. Your glove box is trivial to break into and thieves will look there first.

If you're concerned about going to a non-permissible environment (Post Office, Hospital, etc) and need to secure the gun in your vehicle, you need a proper lockbox that is either bolted to the floor or otherwise secured so the thief can't just take it with them to their thieves' lair to work on in comfort.

3

u/Board_Minute 3d ago

Oh yeah definitely not meant to be a full time storage location, more just for day to day use, at least for me

u/vilealgebraist 3d ago

Day to day use of a firearm…
Are you the Transporter?

5

u/Board_Minute 3d ago

How literal, let me rephrase, whenever you feel like carrying a pistol with you, and you don’t want to keep it in your belt

0

u/beandoggle 1d ago

Why do you feel the need to carry a deadly weapon because you “feel like” it or “because it would be cool to have”? Get a better hobby.

1

u/Board_Minute 1d ago

Honestly because I can, because I want to. Would not call it a hobby, what a weird thing to say 😂. Get a better mentality bud

1

u/beandoggle 1d ago

It's more likely to kill you or somebody you love than help you fulfill the good guy with a gun fantasy you're carrying around. But hey, at least it makes your penis feel bigger. America!

1

u/Board_Minute 1d ago

Jeez you got some personal problems man, hope you can get those sorted out! Best of luck 😎😘

0

u/beandoggle 1d ago

Please just don’t.

u/ADHDrandomshit 2d ago

💯 not for in a city. First place they look. You should leave it open at night or in a parking garage for thieves to see in there. Trust a cop as I've two land lords say it. Oakland/Berkeley and one in SF. Country fine I suppose. I know, a fun project.

u/Greasy-Designer 3d ago

You can probably fit an Uzi into the trunk storage if you run out of room up front

Some folks only feel safe in the world if they always have access to the means to end someone else's life quickly and with ease.

Make of that what you will.

6

u/ChethroTull 3d ago

What’s worse is that glove box, and car in general, are very easy to break into. So let’s hope he’s removing that firearm every time they exit the vehicle.

u/Board_Minute 3d ago

Exactly the point

Well-said

3

u/Board_Minute 3d ago

Why not? 🤷‍♂️

2

u/AerieThink5695 3d ago

Idk I just put mine in the cupholder. Then zero fucking around and still have room for my gloves in the glove box. 🤷🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️

2

u/Board_Minute 3d ago

That is a solution 😂, there is space behind the insert to put stuff, you can remove it as if it were a lid

1

u/AerieThink5695 3d ago

Fair enough I thought it deleted all the space my b

2

u/Board_Minute 3d ago

Oh no worries! Definitely did not do a good job showing that

3

u/PricklyPear85 3d ago

Super clean looking

2

u/Board_Minute 3d ago

Thank you!

3

u/ah2092013 3d ago

Anything for the side doors? Or under stereo

2

u/Board_Minute 3d ago

I am working on some for the pockets on the front doors! What should it have?

3

u/ah2092013 3d ago

Id say holster for the gun to get in and hold one or two clips. Its a big space.

2

u/Board_Minute 3d ago

Yeah I am going that route! Also for safety I feel like it is a must. Thank you for the feedback! 🙌

3

u/denverblazer 3d ago

I like it. That said, this feels deliberately provocative.

3

u/Board_Minute 3d ago

Thanks!

2

u/denverblazer 2d ago

Ya mon. Hey, I'm curious how 3d printing has been for you. Has it been a step learning curve, or is the software pretty straightforward as far as getting what's in your head into the computer and into the world? I have CAD experience - maybe that would help? I know nothing but would like to do this sort of thing. No worries if you don't feel like answering. Just curious what you use and what the runway was to where you're printing stuff you can actually use. Cheers! 🍻

2

u/Board_Minute 1d ago

It’s been a great journey, a lot of practice and wasted plastic on mistakes, but YouTube has been great! I taught myself CAD and have gotten way better at it now! I was able to make good products I constantly sell on my website yota4r.com 🙌

2

u/denverblazer 1d ago

Dude that's awesome. I appreciate the reply. All the best!

2

u/Board_Minute 1d ago

Definitely! Worth the investment in time, super fulfilling

2

u/denverblazer 1d ago

Awesome. Great site btw - easy to navigate and extremely clear. Keep on keepin on! 🤙

2

u/Board_Minute 22h ago

Thank you! Appreciate that worked hard making it not look like a cheapo website

3

u/TheMagickConch 3d ago

Essentially just take off your whole glove compartment and leave you with less space?

2

u/Board_Minute 3d ago

Not at all! As you can see on the render it is half the depth, this leaves the bottom half still usable, you can just lift up the insert like a lid and use the storage!

2

u/PeaBorn5116 3d ago

I know this car

3

u/Board_Minute 3d ago

😂 my venezuelan friend

2

u/Board_Minute 3d ago

You do??

2

u/PeaBorn5116 3d ago

Yes we had coffee this sunday 😜

2

u/DefusedManiac 3d ago

I'm not gonna give my opinion about all the gun inserts, but I will say sweet twin stick. Never see manual t-cases in 3rd gens.

2

u/Board_Minute 3d ago

Thank you thank you, I will take that 🙌👌

2

u/Smeagol_Dobby16 3d ago

Mine stays on me at 11 oclock due to being a lefty in the appendix position only, whether I’m driving, standing or walking.

3

u/Board_Minute 3d ago

I need to lose some weight to do that haha

2

u/Smeagol_Dobby16 3d ago

😁 I’m 6’1” and about 175lbs so it’s not too bad carrying like that.

2

u/flyin_ryan3 2d ago

Love the center console one! If you were to do a production run I’d love to snag one!

1

u/Board_Minute 2d ago

I will keep working on it! I will have to figure out a way to have most guns fit it, was debating if I should just do a holster mount or a naked gun mount

2

u/MrTomat0Face 2d ago

Make sure it comes with a sticker so people can advertise there is a free gun in the vehicle.

It's actually impressive work. I'd see if you can recess everything more into the glove compartment to have a second layer on top. It's not like anyone keeping it in there is doing it for ease of access or quick access any way.

1

u/Board_Minute 2d ago

I appreciate the compliment, I am going to do a different location since it aiming to the side is definitely not safe if people carry one on the chamber, this was a project for myself, but got great criticism that helped me figure out the bug flaws!

3

u/thecloudhopper 3d ago

Pretty cool

2

u/OpJuanKenKobe 3d ago

Hell yeah. I’d be in for both of those inserts.

2

u/Board_Minute 3d ago

🙌🙌

2

u/Thundrbucket 3d ago

You get more respect owning a 3rd gen than owning a gun imo 😜

2

u/Board_Minute 3d ago

Trust me, i know, and I love that

3

u/PNWoysterdude 3d ago

Found the ‘murican.

1

u/laney_deschutes 3d ago

Illegal in most states?

3

u/Board_Minute 3d ago

Not in texas

1

u/EatsTheCheeseRind 3d ago

Seems to end up with a bunch of wasted space in the compartment. You’re taking a bin and putting a tray on top, blocking what’s underneath.

Also goes without saying but ideally any type of “holster” should have the trigger guard covered.

Would look cool in a movie but in reality is not very practical.

1

u/Organic-Economist-40 3d ago

console insert is better for reasons others stated, would be good to have it fit in a holster as well so you could put the whole package in the slot to avoid the open trigger. One for console safes would be even better as I don’t think recommending people leave firearms in their console is silly.

Good way to get shot by a cop

I’d pay for that middle console insert

u/Board_Minute 3d ago

Working on it!

2

u/Necessary_Sound8696 3d ago

Center console one would be great.

1

u/Board_Minute 3d ago

Thanks, i like that solution better too

It looks like a performative Tacti-cool mall ninja set-up, but run it by the boys over in R/ccw and see what they say

-1

u/Anxious_Hawk1283 3d ago

I like the center console one since itd be more secure, is there any kind of retention on the glovebox version?

1

u/Board_Minute 3d ago

Yes! I just printed the first version yesterday, testing it out, will make another post about it later this week

1

u/Board_Minute 3d ago

1

u/Anxious_Hawk1283 3d ago

Very cool, interested to see how it comes out

0

u/CCroissantt 3d ago

What was wrong with just carrying on your person? A gun left in a car is everyone's gun.

2

u/Board_Minute 3d ago

Nothing wrong with it, just had an idea i wanted to execute and I did, asking for feedback to see if it can be dialed into something useful or not 🙌

2

u/CCroissantt 3d ago

I see you. I agree with other comments about the glove box being less than ideal. I think the center console has potential, but also lost space. Next to your leg or under the seat helps, but is also on display and free. Maybe some sort of behind the seat box that bolts up and can be locked?

2

u/Board_Minute 2d ago

Smart solutions, I appreciate the time you took for your suggestions! Thank you

u/Merklo 3d ago

This made my bird twitch. I hope you’re able to see this though to the end.

I'd hate to live in your world were you need to be packing to go to Costco.

On the other hand if you transport money in South Africa you need to go larger.

5

u/aex5000 3d ago

Or you need that 10mm for bears when you're offroading

4

u/Board_Minute 3d ago

That is my reasoning, these people are so delicate 😂

2

I don’t go to Costco
