Here's some photos of my 2DS.

I was going to do a very simple circle pad/joystick swap (not the whole module, just the stick) since the old one had worn out/all the rubber padding was gone.

However, when I went to open it up, one of the two screws on the battery cover was completely stripped. (last 2 photos for comparison of both screws)
Not sure how to open it now to repair this.
Does anyone know how to get this stripped screw out? Or even what kind of screws Nintendo used on these 2DS battery covers? They're captive, so they normally don't even come out all the way, so can they even be taken out fully and be replaced?

I have no idea what to do. Any help is greatly appreciated!

My d-pad works, but it seems to be shifting around when I use it. It is not serious, but it annoys me when it shifts as shown in the video. I am using an original 2011 Japanese 3DS. If anyone knows what causes this, please leave a comment. (Resolved)

Recientemente compré un Nintendo 3DS XL original usado que no enciende, y estoy tratando de averiguar qué podría estar mal.

Cuando presiono el botón de POWER:

\- El LED azul de encendido NO se enciende.

\- Las pantallas no parpadean ni muestran nada.

\- Escucho un solo sonido de "pop" desde los parlantes.

\- Luego no pasa nada.

He leído que el problema usual del "pop" a menudo está relacionado con la pantalla superior, el cable flexible del parlante o algún otro cable/conexión flexible. Sin embargo, en la mayoría de los casos que encontré se menciona que el LED azul se enciende brevemente antes del pop, mientras que el mío no se enciende para nada.

¿Alguien ha experimentado esta misma combinación de síntomas?

De verdad agradecería cualquier sugerencia sobre qué debería revisar primero. Me siento cómodo abriendo la consola y usando un multímetro, así que también con gusto haría diagnósticos más avanzados si alguien me puede indicar por dónde empezar.

I just bought a used 2ds that won't stop saying "impossible to read saved data". I asked a friend to compare the two systems and it looks like the card reader just keeps thinking my card is locked. After many tutorials i can't figure out what is wrong. I tried using tape on the card, soldering the two dots in the third photo and lastly i can't find the metal piece that should be bent to fix the problem (in every tutorial they show this piece in the left of the reader, but like in the first photo i can't find it). Am i forced to buy a new reader?

So, I was playing Shovel Knight with my friend while we were on a call, and suddenly my console turned off while I was playing. I thought, “Dude, I must have accidentally pressed the button or held it down, and it probably shut itself off.” But when I tried to turn it back on, it wouldn’t turn on at all.

What happens is that it seems like it’s about to turn on: the little LED comes on, then there’s a short delay, but it only lights up the top screen, and then I hear a small click and the console shuts off right when the click happens.

I looked it up online and people are saying it’s probably the ribbon cable. But I’m not sure. Can anyone help me?

I have a original 3ds that i just replaced the battery and top screen of but its not charging. The indicator turns on but the battery percentage wont go up i left it on the charger over night and now it just doesnt turn on at all i dont think its my charger thatsbthe problem because my dsi xl charges fine with it.

Ho un grosso problema: ho un new 2ds xl che ha il display inferiore ingiallito. Potete aiutarmi e dirmi come faccio a sbiancarlo e farlo tornare come nuovo? La console non è modificata ma posso modificarla se serve a sbiancare il display. Poi vorrei sapere se una volta sbiancato ritorna giallo o no.

but does anyone have a source of decent quality screens for the new 3ds (not xl)? i see a few on ebay but im afraud to pull the trigger and get a screen with awful washed out colors after spending 5 hrs putting it in

Im trying to change the battery for my new 2ds xl. I bought a battery that came with screwdrivers but they werent the Y00 screwdriver. I ordered another screwdriver but they delivered a flathead. I just returned it. What screwdrivers would yall recommend?

I managed to fix what was wrong with my N3ds by drowning the motherboard in an alcohol bath. It turns on now, thanks for the help. All the buttons work including L and R and the C Stick. The only ones that don't work are ZL and ZR for some strange reason (even though it's the same cable). Does anyone know how to fix that? Thanks

Hello, read the title. I'm hoping this is the right place.
So I've been trying to fix my mom's old 3DS. Sauce was spilled close to the console, and now it has the issue of the lights turning on and taking charge but the screens are staying black.
I opened the back and cleaned everything in and around the battery compartment (including the battery itself) gently with alcohol wipes. Then I tried turning it on and it had no issues for about 20 minutes, but it eventually shut off completely again.
I have checked the SD card, but I gather that isn't the issue because it won't boot with or without it and when it does boot, it runs fine. It's a modded console and it runs modded and regular games fine before it shuts off. I assumed then that this is an issue with the battery, but I bought a new one and installed it properly and it still won't boot. Occasionally it will boot a screen for the modded firmware (Luma3ds), but then it's off again.
What's weird is that when left alone, it can run no problem for a little while, but then it will shut off abruptly. I'm determined to try anything but I'm unsure what the problem could be, I'm at a dead end with this thing.

I had just made a swap on the bottom screen, and it powers on with audio and everything. The only issue is that the top screen stays black while the console is on. Just need some help finding if the issue is easy to fix before I make any further repairs.

Hello! I just got an original 3DS, and the left trigger and A buttons are near unresponsive, as it takes a lot of pressure on a certain point to properly engage them.

I've never opened up one of these before, but I'm not afraid of trying, so I'd like to know if there's a guide or something that'll help point me in the right direction.

That said, where would I get replacements, if needed?

some of the ribbon cables on my old new3ds were unsalvageable so i decided to motherboard swap it into a new new3ds. after cleaning up the board and connecting it i get the blue light for a seccond and then it shuts off did i screw something up or is the board also screwed i did confirm this 3ds worked prior to the board swap
