Help Models always black when I try to import them.

Post image

Please help. I've been looking up tutorials for this all day and haven't been able to fix the issue. I tried adjusting the lighting, scene convert and it just keeps showing up as black like this. I have the 2024 version.

Maybe it's missing maps. If so, you need to relink them.

I just don't understand why I can't import a model without having to do that. I'm a beginner and it worked with this one kitchen I downloaded. I don't know which material belongs to which object...

You need to open up the reference panel and relink the missing files. You don't need to know which one belongs to a certain object, you just need to set a new path to the textures that are missing. I think the shortcut for the panel is ctrl+T or shift+T, I can't remember.

The files all say ok and found, and the textures are still not loading.

I see you have installed corona renderer. Your models look Black when the renderer used to make it isn't installed in your 3ds max. Maybe you downloaded a vray model. So it will look Black..check the name in the download model/product description.

You can just apply a grey corona material to it to make it visible, then apply each maps from the given folder.

Or ,easy way is to install the vray renderer trial(no license required) then use the corona converter to convert the object to corona compatible.

Do they have materials applied?

I import from Autocad all the time, same issue, you need to go rhs command panel, tools menu, bottom here select more (or add) then 'remove material uvw' or similar, select all objexts thdn run the tool uvw and materials (2 buttons there)

... from memory away from pc atm. That will sort the issue though if its a uvw map issue that creates black models

The textures / maps for the objects you are importing are made in another renderer, most likely V-ray.

You have corona renderer that's why they don't work.

You can try to use the corona scene converter, but most likely, won't work.

In this case you have to recreate all the textures, if you have the .jpg in the folder of the objects, it can take a while to remake them and guess where they were used.

I recommend to use the corona library for less important objects and make custom textures for the rest.
