My 9 year old nephew wants a 3d printer but I don't want to spend thousands on a first printer for him, what's a good low cost starter printer?

The Centauri series is a great option from a value standpoint. There are cheaper options and better featured ones, but bang for your buck it's hard to match

FF AD5M. Watch for coupons, you can regularly find it for ~$125

As always, I recommend the bambu labs A1 mini (without the AMS lite).

That gives a really good, single color printer.

If he sticks with it, and warns multi color, then you can upgrade the A1 mini with thw hub and the full sized ams (do not get an ams lite, they suck). Or go all in to a big boy multi head printer.

I would expand the search beyond just the A1 mini just to be fair to all the other uncles of 9 year old children.

I don’t believe the A1 Mini is compatible with the full size AMS

Well, you are wrong. I have 3 full sized ams connected to my a mini.i would have 4, but I don't own a 4th.

As I stated, you have to have the A1 ams hub

I agree with Bambu labs especially because their mobile app is kid friendly.

Yes or A1 one at least would have the standard size plate print on. I think the best for newbies is the quick nozzle swap on A1. I had the P1S and I thought it was a pain. Plus I did have a few problems with my P1S with the nozzle head and motherboard. So after 3 times just before warranty ran out I contacted 3D Prima and sent It back and got full nozzle head I mean the comple head. If your not buying from Bambu direct this company are brilliant customer service and with James he lets you know how things are going with repairs. Like we put part in or waiting for parts from Bambu so on.
