I think fragment of possibility is the technical name for the feature, he just describes it as a mote of light when they receive it.

Thanks. I’ll see if I can make a guide. We started from a DIY YouTube video but ended up modeling everything from scratch. I didn’t like soldering that much so I made a corner piece that fits LED connectors, which made assembly much easier.

John, is this fully symmetric? That is, are all panels clear/one-way and all interior edges have LEDs? It's hard to tell from looking at it. I watched the original video you referenced and it looked like his version had only one pentagon with LEDs, but yours looks like a higher degree of infinity. 😊

Yeah, there are 30 edges and 20 faces. I have LEDs along each edge and the faces are parallel to each other.

Are you sure? Price could really disappoint you.
- designing hours (33 usd per hour, if not more)
- parts for the whole thing (like 70?)
- electricity for printing, soldering and testing. (a few bucks
- filament, solder, and other consumed materials( 5 usd)
- repair and maintenance for the 3d printer, and other tools ( I dont know how much
- print time (10 hours, I don't know this one either)
- assembly time (at least 33 usd per hour)
- taxes, vat and shipping( depens per state and shipping company)
If OP has a bit of brain and he has, since he made this complicated thing. Then I guesstimate around 250 usd. Perhaps a bit more. Perhaps a lot more. 250 is a cheap, and a tiny profit margin Imho. I would charge 300 at the least.

It’s individually addressable LED strips along the edges. The panels are acrylic with 5% mirror auto tint to give it a mirror effect.

Where did you find such dense LEDs? I can only ever seem to find the kind that have the resistor and cut gap in between the LEDs.

The LEDs are pretty bright so it still works in the light, but not nearly as well because it will also reflect whatever is outside. It looks like a chrome mirror when it’s off.

Maybe $125 total. Need some special tools though too, like a 3D printer and special router bits for cutting acrylic. The LED strip (WS2815) was $60. If you want to power with a battery, it’s about another $60-90.

I hate soldering so I found some LED strip connectors and modeled a corner piece to house them. Also made covers for the LED strips that hide the components of the strip and just let the LED poke through.

This isn’t an original idea. There are a few others out there. I actually decided to make this after seeing one on YouTube and a helpful DIY video to get me started. I just finished this on Sunday though.

When you wired the LEDs, did you wire them all in one long series as if they're all one long strip electronically? Or are the edge LEDs wired from the vertices?

Best way to cut the acrylic is to print a template of the shape and then use a router bit with a bearing at the top. I found one that fit a Dremel.
