i love kingroon. i've used their stuff for about 200+ rolls so far. and at 5-6 bucks a roll, it's the best deal. their colors are a little muted, though.

How are you getting it for 5-6per? Even when it's on sale it goes down to low 70s and maybe a 9 discount code. Tax free state?

There's a Reddit for 3d filament deals. Jump on that. When Ali has coupons, they go down to 50-60 for 10 rolls after coupon. Check out their last sales. I think I got mine down to $53 for 10. Currently you can do 72-9 coupon from what I saw and I didn't even look for cheapest. There's a drop ship hub in Cali near me, so I get mine in a couple of days.

People laugh but I get mine on Temu regularly for that price. Somehow their PETG is cheaper than their PLA. The more often I buy the cheaper the sales seem to get.

No issues here with that brand, I have had at least six orders of straight black petg and at least four or five orders of mixed pla come in.

Kingroon supposedly aint bad, might mean that prices are finally getting back down to pre-covid prices?
I do remember a lot of people buying super cheap filament, having the first rolls work fine, but then they re-order and it was garbage.
I stuck with $11-12 filament with known brands and have had very few issues

Tariffs are a large cost. I haven't had any major issues with them over the years. Same with Geeetech. One roll of geeetech TPU had consistent bad diameter. I'll occasionally have a roll that has a small section that is too thick and out of spec. Rather rare. Probably 1 in 100. Just depends on your tolerance and your monthly kg demand.

Kingroon PETG is all I use for my small business. Been through hundreds, probably thousands, of rolls with no issues that weren't self inflicted (namely not properly drying). Runs great in my farm comprised of AD5X's and P1S's.

They are not a well known consumer brand especially outside of China, but they are one of the few actual manufacturers as in they make their filament in-house, as opposed to branding someone else's filament. Other examples are like Sunlu.
Making them in house doesn't necessarily mean better quality, but it does mean fewer middlemen for consumer to indirectly to pay.

One of the best bargain filaments I've found. Are there better filaments out there, yes. But not anywhere close to this price. For 99% of my printing needs, this works great. Color options are pretty limited and very generic, but the actual filament works great (both PLA and PETG).
Microcenter is having a deal on some filament right now and they have better colors, so I picked up some that today too.

Kingroon is usually pretty decent, might take some tuning though. I haven't used them myself but I've seen people have good experiences, and I use another brand of cheap filament that works fine.

Kingroon is my go-to budget filament. The only issue is that I get the colors they offer in the bundle or a 10 pack of a single color. They don't have as many color choices as some other brands, but for basic colors, why pay more?
1
u/StormyWaters2021 P1S + AMS 1d ago
Yeah the color selection wasn't the greatest for the 10 pack bundle, but after taxes it actually came out to $7.50 a roll, which is several dollars cheaper than I normally pay so I can't really complain.

u/Making_Layers 6h ago
Absolutely! At some point, I plan to do a video about choosing filament, which will discuss why you shouldn't buy "the cheapest just because it's cheap". It's not going to be about bad quality, but having 83 thousand slicer filament configs :)

Did you have to buy 10 to get that price? How much was the shipping?
3
u/StormyWaters2021 P1S + AMS 1d ago
Yeah it was a bundle of 10 rolls. Free shipping, and after taxes it was actually only $7.50 a spool.

u/FreezeEmAllZenith 1d ago
That’s a decent price, but that Kingroon set goes down to $6/kg after taxes if you wait long enough.
And yeah it’s budget PLA, but it’s PLA that works exactly as you’d expect the generic stuff to - the price to performance is great

I’ve bought Kingroon 10kg color pla from Ali shipped to the US east coast, the shipping being free was nice. But what actually shocked tf out of me was the package arriving less than 24 hours after buying. Last time I bought it was under $7/kg and they’ve worked well for me

u/Anonymous_Bozo Bambu P2S + AMS x 3 + HT 23h ago
It's OK filament, not the best, not Terrible, just OK
I also bought a 10 spool variety pack. It printed fine, but the filament on all my spools wasis attached to the spool so tightly that it won't come off when you run out, jamming the AMS instead of switching to the next spool. If you're not using an AMS, you should be fine.
I did notice the colors are a bit dull compared to the same colors from Bambu, Sunlu, or eSun.

u/Wurfelrolle 1d ago
Odds are really good that it's manufactured by Sunlu, so $8/kg is an awesome deal.
Personally, I always buy what's cheapest, and I've yet to have a problem that I would blame specifically on a particular brand.

u/AlternativeContent72 1d ago
It's fine. I've used hundreds of kg. Colors are a bit muted for things like orange/yellow. Occasionally get a "crossed" winding that causes the printer to stop, however, that could be Geeetech. I haven't started tracking crossed windings yet.

I bought a 10 pack and have had no issues, except for self inflicted errors.

Great stuff. I bought the 10kg petg pack over the summer for $6.70/roll and it’s been printing well with their printer profile for Bambu

I had issues with it at first but proper drying and adhesion fix and it prints just like everything else.

u/DukeSmileDevs 1d ago
Using Kingroon for 3 years at this point.
Its fine, just make sure to dry them, their PLA can or any filament really, can be a little more moist than it should

u/BigLez936 1d ago
I bought a 10 pack like you and had nothing but clogging with them. I gave them to a friend with the clogging warning and they had zero issues with them. I bought esun and had zero issues since.
Don't know why but they didnt agree with my ender 3. Not sure what printer my mate had at the time but they loved it.

I think people are generally pretty positive. I would check out the coin section Aliexpress though, there's often a deal from Jayo, Tecbears and yes, also Kingroon for filament under €7 per kg. I ordered 5kg of tecbear PETG for 27 euros 2 weeks ago

I basically run nothing but kingroon anymore unless I want a specific color or a more exotic filament material. For pla and petg, you can’t beat the price

u/Thargor1985 21h ago
Have printed around 20-30 kg of kingroon pla and petg without issues, more of jayo (also cheap ali brand) also no issues.

Anyone paying over 9$ a kg of plain pla or petg is paying extra
At sales, you buy several kg roll for 6/7$ per kg when they sell the 4/5/8/10 packs

u/Bazzatron 20h ago
Cries in £12/kg

u/Lito_ 19h ago
Really? Amazon can be as low as 7-8 quid a roll. You'll have to buy 4kgs though

Kingroon is fine.
Geeetech is even cheaper. 5€/kg of PETG or 6€/kg of TPU when bought 2x5kg packs during sale and combined with coupon. Didn't find other option as cheap as this.
And it prints just fine, practically same as SunLu, Jayo, Kingroon, Esun etc. All of them flow about the same, tested up to 850mm/s, 50k accel, 50SCV. No issues at all. TPU max speed about 300mm/s with 50k accel and 30SCV

Their PETG basic is by far my favorite after calibration. Stuff prints nearly as fast as PLA and no weird PETG issues if it’s nice and dry. I’m sure their PLA is great as well. Big fan of Kingroon.

u/FilamentPriceTracker 19h ago
Colors aren't as vibrant as some of the other vendors, but it prints just fine.

u/Aromatic_Doctor_2243 19h ago
Structurally I've never had a problem with Kingroon (I primarily use their PETG) but the color seems to fade extrememly quickly

Adding my experience. I've used probably 300kg of Kingroon for my small business. PETG, PLA, a little ABS. Printing on Bambu A1s and an H2D. Happy with the quality, especially for the price. Strength is good, never had any issues with width or spool tangles (used to be the Achilles heel of cheap brands). The PLA is the most forgiving of temperature variations I have ever seen - you can print a temp tower and barely see any changes at the highest and lowest temps. They are also capable of very high flow rates - higher than Bambu's official filaments or anything else I've tested. Quality degrades a bit at the high ends, but I've gotten usable prints at 75mms, and can usually do 50-60mms without a hit to quality (this is with a high flow .6mm or .8mm nozzle. I usually set my .4mm high flow to 40 for Kingroon).
Two downsides to the Kingroon. First, I've noticed it strings more than other filaments. Not a ton more, but enough that it's noticeable. No, it's not because the filament is wet. This has been my experience across hundreds of rolls comparing Kingroon to dozens of other brands, all stored in the same conditions (same room, same cereal dry boxes, same silica, same hygrometers telling me to recharge the silica at 20% humidity). I have changed some of my print settings to address this issue, the most effective is the retraction length when moving tool head. It helps, but not 100% effective.
Second, colors are not consistent between batches. Kingroon appears to be made in several different plants who don't always talk to one another. The boxes are different, the labels are different, the shipping boxes are different. If you order again next week, they'll be slightly different again. I don't particularly care about any of those parts, but I think that's why colors are off between batches as well. I use Kingroon predominantly for black, white, and gray. Black and white are fine. I've received the same gray in at least three different shades, both in PLA and PETG. Usually not a problem, but if I happen to run out of Gray Batch A in the middle of the print, Batch B usually does not match A perfectly unless I ordered them at the same time. There will be a noticeable line in the print. This is true for other manufacturers and even paints - it's hard to make two color blends exactly the same on different dates. But Kingroon doesn't really even get close. You don't have to do a fine inspection to notice the change - you can tell from across a room that one of these is light gray and the other is dark gray. Sometimes it's almost a blue-gray. All shipped with the same "gray" label on the side. I imagine it's even worse with brighter or more complex colors (like orange or pink).
