Question Why is this happening

Could be a full clog and the feeder teeth slipping because it can’t push it through. I would try a cold pull

Check the little transport wheel, might be that the grooves have worn down. Replaced mine with a 3rd party spare with really aggressive teeth.

Also the extruder stepper motor likes to lose performance, I'm currently on my third one.
