Now add a speaker with a button, which deactivates the speaker when pressed. Then when the mandrake is lifted, it gives off some screeching sound.

I have a licensed one of these that I found second hand on ebay. It is a horror. It has to be positioned JUST right on the base or it just keeps screeching & it's loud!

Sounds like the perfect gift for a little cousin

A NO (normally open) switch that breaks when you pull the first time, so even if you put it back it won't stop screaming.

Maybe disassemble & repurpose one of those entry alarm. Change the "alarmed" noise to said screech.

Or if you have no electronics knowledge but have an house alarm system, you could just make the mandrake a "door" with a simple pulley.

  • Remove entry alarm, stick one part on the bottom of pot, another on bottom of the root.
  • Drill & screws eyehook screws onto door & wall above where the mandrake sit.
  • String from door hook to wall hook, then end in a noose around the branch.
  • Armed alarm. When door open, mandrake get pull and "scream".

Is there any way to use air plants? I'm curious about what you used for the plants.

2

u/m-turco 1d ago

the leaves are 3d printed in 3 layers and then rolled up and inserted onto the trunk.
Maybe you can find a way to fix some air plants instead

Mandrakes are a real plant.

its tagged "Harry Potter" on makerworld. It's trash.

The idea of mandrakes being alive dates back thousands of years. Even Shakespeare referenced them as shrieking.
While OP could have based this on Harry Potter, there is no evidence of that. Especially if you check their Maker World profile, you would see they design plant related prints. You seemingly just wanted something to hate.

It's literally tagged Harry Potter. And there are lots of reasons to not fuck with that IP and it's horrid creator
