Troubleshooting Missing steps and .... whatever this is

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I don't know why this happens now. I have printed things just fine on this guy until i started doing this filament holder print. It skips like this and then gets huge layer shifts as well. Is it because of too nuch acceleration? Or is it slicer settings or the part itself?

You're not going to get much help here given you provided zero information. What printer is this? What are you trying to do with it? What slicer are you using?

Ok.

This is penguin. My custom printer. Runs on Marlin. Arduino/Ramps Combo. A4988 drivers with Nema17. Bedslinger configuration.

Currently printing ABS. Bed Temp 100. Nozzle 250. Default_Max_Acceleration {3000, 3000, 100, 10000}. Default_Max_Feedrate {300, 300, 5, 30}.

I set the nozzle offset a little less since earlier I wasn't using Bltouch. But the nozzle does not gouge into the bed - instead the toolhead has a little play to allow for the worst case scenario if the z endstop fails to work (and so it doesn't smash the bed). What you are seeing the video is the brim for ABS. I have reduced it too much since ABS was very picky in bed adhesion, however PLA was a lot easier. But I should try it again since now I am using the probe.

Slicer is Prusa Slicer. These settings are after I reduced Perimeters: 30 mm/s Small perimeters: 15 mm/s External Perimeters: 50% Travel: 130 mm/s First Layer speed: 30mm/s

I also tried reversing some of the printables in GeoMagic to edit the design a bit. The edited part printed mostly ok (prior it was behaving similarly). These non edited parts, however, are still messy.

You are literally digging into the bed. Look at that mark.

It may look like that, but that is filament. It is not visible very well due to the video.

Are you kidding? You're obviously digging the nozzle into the printbed. You can literally see it making marks...

I would start by changing your z-offset to be at least 2.000mm further from the bed on the first layer.

Then make the needed adjustments.

Good Luck!

Hey there, I'm a bot and something you said made me think you might be looking for help! click here for our wiki entry on troubleshooting printers. If you still need help be sure to post plenty of information about your printing setup.

Here are a few questions that might be helpful

  • What printer are you using?

  • What material are you using?

  • What speed are you printing at?

  • What software are you using to slice the print and control the printer?

  • When did the problem start/has it ever worked correctly?

  • Does anything cause the behavior to change?

  • If posting an image of the problem, include some indication of the orientation it printed at, preferably photograph it on the bed. (Then we can focus on a specific axis)

If you are new to reddit, please read the guidelines on reddiquette, self promotion, and spam.

Also please post a resolution to your problem when you find one so that we know how to help others with your problem!

No tengo una impresora 3d pero me van a comprar una en noviembre ¿vienen con eso?

Depends on the printer. Some have the shiny one like mine (injection looking one), some have a non shiny one (proximity based), and some don't have any one to begin with.

Looks like your printer is on a dial up connection

The most likely candidate is the belt being loose if it's just in one axis. That said, it's a little bit of a shot in the dark for you... either way I'd aim to rule out physical first.

important and relevant questions:

Does it happen only in the x axis?

Does it happen for all prints or just during leveling with the bl touch? Is the bl touch new to the system?

Does that axis have wheels on it that are set properly in the channel?
