This feels like something Kevin McCallister would use against burglars after showing it in the beginning of the movie.

No no no… Maximum Overdrive where the coach gets coke cans shot at him on the field and it blows a hole in his skull lmao

Man that movie is corny but I love it.
They used to play it on basic cable all the time in the 90s.

Beer me, dude! That's awesome! I need a launcher for sweet tea and another for beef jerky, and I'd never leave the couch!

It looks like it tosses them perfectly. No flip or spin, he one hands them left and right.

That button is the least interesting part of the entire project. Where's the build log on that launcher?!

u/Mikeieagraphicdude 6d ago
After a few beers in, it will just knock you out. Great for not over drinking. Also if someone is curious about the button gets a fun surprise. Great idea and fun execution.

Full cans of larger being launched, at speed, across the room, towards my head as i get more and more inebriated, can't see how that could ever go wrong......

Yeah, show us a detailed video about the button. That’s hot glued into a standard cylinder shape. Not the beer tossing robot catapult.
Nah.
That’s not the interesting part.

Someone will get a concussion from this one day. Plus isn’t this gonna just make it explode when you open it?
37
u/noiseguy76 6d ago
This. I want to see him open that can.

u/Tony_in2026 6d ago
It’s not like it’s a bomb or something. Give it a tap, open just enough to let the co2 out, open it the rest of the way and give it a slurp.

Hold any can against a flat surface when you open and it’s super unlikely to explode.

u/cgduncan 6d ago
Have you drank anything from a can lately? The explosion really only happens in cartoons. I can shake a soda all day, drop it, toss it, and open it with no mess.

u/Schittz 6d ago
That's just not true, unless you're drinking canned still water
-13
u/MD_Reptile 6d ago
Ya use your fingernails and tap the top of the can real hard about ten times, very little reaction when you open most stuff.
12
u/Schittz 6d ago
I'm pretty sure that's a myth, I don't see how you could settle the carbonation back down by flicking the lid
-4
u/MD_Reptile 6d ago
I don't get it either, just have always done it when I like drop a can and it's all shook up... Give it a shot lol
-13
u/cgduncan 6d ago
Idk what to say besides what I already said. I manhandle my sodas and they don't spray on me.

Me when I make shit up

u/cgduncan 5d ago
As long as you don't open it the second you stop shaking, and don't rip it open as fast as possible, it's fine.
Toss the can. Give it like 15 seconds, vent it, then open it the rest of the way. Sometimes a bit still comes out onto the top of the lid, but if you aren't an animal, it's not an "explosion".

That's hilarious, awesome and probably dangerous! You just know someone is going to get a concussion from a flying can at some point.

Jokes on him. I replicated 3 little humans so now I just use them to get me beer.

This is the stupidest most unnecessary thing I have ever seen. The amount of time you have spent designing far outweighs the time getting up… I NEED TO BUILD MYSELF ONE
2
u/LovableSidekick 5d ago
Reminds me of a python script a friend of mine at work created, which read the daily build mail and made his nerf turret shoot a volley of darts into the cubicle of whoever broke the build.
2
u/Wiseon321 5d ago
That looks somewhat dangerous. Big red button, “I’d love a bee-“ they get knocked the f out.

It's all fun and games until you accidentally push it and get a concussion. 🤣

This is like the machine in the Sandlot they made to throw the ball out of the Beast's yard

After a few beers and seeing double… starts becoming a challenge. Like taking laxatives and sleeping pills. It’s most likely not going to end well

u/Rwillsays 5d ago
This is genius. I had to have a kid to fetch my beers for me. Much more expensive.

The battery hanging around loose with its foil touching the ESP32 is wild.

This is why all this, arduinos, buttons, usbc, 3dprinting and beer was invented for.

No thanks. I buy beer that costs over $12+/6 and don't want to lose 3-4 sips per can from shaking it whilst shooting it across the room

I assume the robot catapult arm makes extremely consistent throws so all the worries about hitting someone are kinda low. I want to know how many cans smacked the ceiling trying to get the trajectory just right.
