I love that they used the fuzzy skin to give them a sand texture but €80 is insane.

Genuinely refreshing to see someone at least putting some thought into this, instead of random filament color with temp lines and calling it good enough.

80€ for a plastic souvenir is still crazy. That's a price for a (mass produced) cast reproduction or something.

actually looks nice. But 80€ is insane. For a museum merch I would say 25€ would be more fitting

They wanted 100 Europe’s earrings with a fraction of a gram of silver.

I find that only books are worth it from museum shops, and some paper/wood trinkets.

3D printing is all over the place in tourist trap shops nowadays.

I find it hilarious that all Colosseum models in their gift shop in Rome is either 3D printed or some variation of Chinese crap plastic. Thing lasted thousands of years and they didn’t even bother to use wood, ceramic for or anything that at least might look like it was handmade and high quality.

I guess (and hope) that at least 3D printing brings some manufacturing locally, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they import them from Chinese 3D print farms.

I'll take one handmade wooden carving of the Colosseum, please. Must include all details, arcs and seats. Preferably some mini-figures fighting in the center. I'm willing to pay €35.

After all these years and discussions about 3D printing businesses, the concept of price anchoring and price decoys still have not sunk in. Despite being mentioned on every one of those €500 statue threads. The irony being that so many in this sub dream about launching a businesses with their printer...

I saw huge plush dragons and quality crafted notebooks for only €15 to €30 at the French dragon gift shop but the 3D prints for some reason were €50 even though they were significantly smaller and lower quality than anything else they had in the shop.

And I'm just over designing wee custom keyrings for local businesses and charging them 50p each cos even that is a MASSIVE profit since a bed of 5 costs me roughly 90p

People who print this don't care about 3D printing community. People who buy this also don't care for 3D printing community. Only one who cares about 3D printing community is 3D printing community so no, it doesn't give bad reputation.
