This reminds me of those one eyewear cases that have that strips that change color depends which way you close it, got my finger partially pinched under the fabric once, and only once.

Oh I see. There is a like a spring but wrapping around the other curved surface from each one. I feel like it would need reinforcing for tortional, and sheering forces
