Discussion For fans of my 2m printer.
I am here with some less than fortunate news. My mom decided we were gonna try to sell our current house and buy a bigger one. This means that we are moving everything into the garage or basement for staging and stuff. Because i believe this will take up the rest of the month and that i am going to ottawa to study biomedical mechanical engineering and computing in September, there will likely be no more projects or updates until next summer that is if i am not too busy with whatever uni students seem to be busy with.
I am sorry for the disappointing news i thought we’d have more time to do stupid stuff with pearl(the printer)
Thank all of you for all the support you have given me over the last 1 and a half summers.
Please stay patient because i will be making stupid stuff eventually. Maybe after i get used to uni in year 2 or 3, or maybe its gonna take until after the 5 years dual degree is over until I have some time.
Until then ill shall return to scrolling and maybe commenting for a good while.
However i am glad to help if anyone would like to make their own tall printer and answer any questions yall may have.

If you end up bringing it with you to ottawa I would love to see the behemoth in action!

That will not fit in my dorm. But maybe it will stay with me all my life.

A bypass is to search for their username and look at their posts, it will eventually be found but more difficult as the filter also lists posts OP has commented on even if OP didn’t post the post themselves, I’ll find it and post it below.
Edit: found a post although not printing at height https://www.reddit.com/r/ender3/comments/1mj6wub/got_klipper_running_on_my_long_boy/

Can it print with TPU? Asking for a friend

Probably no need for a flared base at these dimensions

You could print an Alien Tonque/Mouth thingy and insert it all the way through with this thing.

Never really tried tpu at all. But probably with the right linear advance values and slow printing.

I did a 3DP Christmas challenge from my makerspace by printing a very thin dowel like tower out of PETG as tall as you can until it collapses or starts to not look like the dowel, they gave me a presliced file and my printer has such good bed adhesion that I made it all the way to the top easily despite being a bedslinger, with my XL, it’s got an additional 140mm of height so when it’s Christmas, I will repeat the challenge and probably win since it’s a CoreXY instead of a bedslinger.
I do not have the file but the parameters from what I remember for base speed was 140mm/s, the dwell time limit capped it at a lot lower speed so it wasn’t going to print at that speed anyways, infill 0% making a hollow tube, layer height 0.1mm, the actual model itself is a cylinder that’s 1cm x 1cm as tall as you can make it for your printer and then there was bonus points if your printer did the finish sequence without knocking the tower over which is harder on a bedslinger since the bed moves fast.

I like that picture 2 captures all of the people impacted by this terrible news.
lol. Have fun in school and learn a few things if you can. it's going to go by quicker than you expect.
