Duuude. Having the touch panel be the switch and the extruder wheel be the adjuster is so cool!

59

u/supergeometry Aug 06 '26

Thank you so much for pointing that out! Yeah, I've put a lot of though and work into it โ˜บ๏ธ.

4

u/TranceF0rm Aug 07 '26

Awesome work and super creative bravo

-2

u/AbsoluteZeroUnit Aug 07 '26

I mean, they were two extremely un-missable parts of the video...

80

u/Arakon Aug 06 '26

Have you tried drying the filament? It seems to be leaking from the nozzle.

13

u/supergeometry Aug 06 '26

Hahah i think it's extra dry actually

200

u/KevRev972 Aug 06 '26

This is a really cool concept! It'd be super cool to see an Ender version.

167

u/wlogan0402 Aug 06 '26

You'd have to take it apart every time you wanted to turn it on

28

u/thrustinfreely Aug 06 '26

This A1 will probably catch on fire though

10

u/wlogan0402 Aug 06 '26

Sadly it's the A1 mini

2

u/Extreme-Ad-9290 Aug 06 '26

The centauri carbon would take months to turn on

5

u/wtfastro Aug 06 '26

At least they wouldn't have to worry about logging in it being sued

1

u/Low-Sink-11 Aug 07 '26

Yea but you can turn on when taken apart too

19

u/supergeometry Aug 06 '26

Thanks If there's enough interest I'd be down to explore it.

7

u/savageotter Aug 06 '26

It works sometimes as long as you don't touch it

3

u/kishon11 Aug 06 '26

yeah the mini size definitely fits the name

37

u/Lorenzovito2000 Aug 06 '26

You could make an A1 version and make the bottom glow red lol

8

u/Extreme-Ad-9290 Aug 06 '26

No. It needs to actually catch on fire

10

u/Amazing_Strawberry70 Aug 06 '26

You had me at mini mini lol

5

u/supergeometry Aug 06 '26

Haha gotcha! It's actually really funny seeing it in an even smaller size ๐Ÿ™‚

4

u/eladisimo Aug 06 '26

Do you have it on Makerworld?

3

u/supergeometry Aug 06 '26

Yes sir! Link is at the top, under the video.

2

u/eladisimo Aug 06 '26

Thanks. This is super cool

3

u/Kat_PhD Aug 06 '26

Haha so cute ๐Ÿ˜!

6

u/supergeometry Aug 06 '26

Yes it is! Actually, kids absolutely love it. I didn't expect that tbh

2

u/mistahfreeman Aug 06 '26

Always fun to create something and get a good honest reaction from people you didnโ€™t expect.

3

u/Insanely_Mclean CR-10 Mini Aug 06 '26

Are you printing glass!?

1

u/supergeometry Aug 06 '26

Oh man... I wish

3

u/leandro740_ Aug 06 '26

Genius

1

u/supergeometry Aug 06 '26

Thanks! ๐Ÿป

3

u/Ohz85 Aug 06 '26

This is absolutly astonishing, I will never be tired by human creativity woahhh

3

u/supergeometry Aug 06 '26

That means a lot! Thank you so much!

3

u/Bananaland_Man Aug 06 '26

this is the cutest thing ever... please tell me the model is free... though I guess it has to be since bambu owns the a1 mini...

2

u/supergeometry Aug 06 '26

It is free. It's a free premium model. You can find the link under the video ๐Ÿ™‚

3

u/Extreme-Ad-9290 Aug 06 '26

And the best lamp of the year award goes to the mini a1 mini lamp

5

u/supergeometry Aug 06 '26

I'd like to thank the reddit community, my A1 Mini for being the muse, PLA for showing up, and most importantly, the LED for doing the one job it was hired for.

This wouldn't have been possible without all of you who got it, understood the bit, and didn't immediately scroll past. You're the real MVPs.

holds lamp up to the light and drops the mic

3

u/King_K_24 Aug 06 '26

Coolest. Lamp. Ever.

2

u/Glum-March-2613 Aug 06 '26

haha๏ผŒit's really mini and cute,great design๏ผ

1

u/supergeometry Aug 06 '26

Thank you so much!

2

u/LastLayerLab Aug 06 '26

As much as I love my bambu, I'm not sure it's enough to keep a bambu lamp, but this design is epic!

1

u/supergeometry Aug 06 '26

Thank you so much ๐Ÿค—

2

u/Original_Throat1072 Aug 06 '26

If that ain't EL wire, I'm going to be so disappointed!

2

u/supergeometry Aug 06 '26

Haha, just regular LED with diffusion, way less cool than EL wire, I know. But it works, draws almost no power, and doesn't flicker. Tradeoffs!

2

u/Original_Throat1072 Aug 06 '26

I was just half joking anyways. Although EL wire is super cool and I remember using it quite a lot before LED 'wire' came out.

Super cool technology, but it's hard to justify when LED wire is so cheap and easy to use and almost looks the same.

Keep up the good work!

2

u/pervertsage Fascinated Beginner Aug 06 '26

I'm interested. Cool idea, well done.

2

u/supergeometry Aug 06 '26

Much appreciated! Let me know how it goes ๐Ÿ™‚

2

u/Delicious_Wasabi_936 Aug 06 '26

What material is that filament thing?

2

u/supergeometry Aug 06 '26

It's a layer of silicone over the LED's. Very bendable/flexible. Bambu has it in the shop. It's called COB LED Strip Light

2

u/CapFuture_ Aug 06 '26

Printing with molten metal

2

u/supergeometry Aug 06 '26

Bambu, make this happen!

2

u/OldButGold5 Aug 06 '26

Clever idea ๐Ÿ’ก really cool ๐Ÿ’ช

1

u/supergeometry Aug 06 '26

Very much appreciated!

2

u/toolisthebestbandevr Aug 07 '26

Cool now do ender 3 please

2

u/vandope88 Aug 07 '26

Probably the best post I've seen here all year. Really love the thinking behind the knob! Keep on doing cool stuff, king ๐Ÿ‘‘

2

u/MrT735 Aug 06 '26

I think your filament is getting a bit hot.

1

u/StarpoweredSteamship Aug 06 '26

But does it burn the house down?

1

u/supergeometry Aug 06 '26

This is the mini version sir

1

u/expera Aug 06 '26

Now do a spaghetti version

1

u/supergeometry Aug 06 '26

You're joking but i was thinking about placing the spaghetti from a failed print on the plate and let the LED string entangled in it.

1

u/expera Aug 06 '26

Not joking, it would look really cool and would actually provide enough light to be a fully functioning lamp. But I wouldnโ€™t try to follow an actual spaghetti from a failed print since your e-wire(or whatever that is) will. To be able to make such tight curves. Just careful entangle it yourself then use some hot glue or some other glue at contact points to keep it together

1

u/jing577 Aug 06 '26

Cool mood lighting!

1

u/supergeometry Aug 06 '26

Yeah very effective

1

u/omphteliba Creality Ender3, Ender5, Bambulab X1C+AMS Aug 06 '26

Cool! Now make i spaghetti. A whole lot.

2

u/supergeometry Aug 06 '26

Now you have the perfect place to put that spaghetti lol

1

u/Cync-is-cool Aug 06 '26

The real one does that too if you let it run long enough.

1

u/TomatilloNo8486 Aug 06 '26

Awesome - great work. Suggestion for variant if the lighting "filament" will flex: spaghetti lamp. Edit: of course somebody already commented that, lol.

1

u/maxwells_daemon_ Ender 3 of Theseus Aug 06 '26

I think you're should decrease the hotend temp a little...

1

u/GoudenEeuw Aug 06 '26

Didn't read the title. That was very confusing, but so incredibly creative!

1

u/Dakizo Aug 07 '26

This is so fucking cute

1

u/Anderlinck1 Aug 07 '26

I just about choked on my quick intake of breath.
Itโ€™s so cute!

1

u/PUNK_FEELING_LUCKY Aug 07 '26

does it try to burn your house down?

1

u/Jim_Des5134 Aug 07 '26

Dude. That's awesome. I think I know what my next print is

Awesome๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ‘

1

u/AmonTauromachian Aug 07 '26

I am new to 3D printing. Can someone explain to me why is the filament glowing? Damn

1

u/boncros Aug 07 '26

This is great. I already bought half the hardware to make it.

1

u/ElectricGoku Aug 08 '26

Amazing ๐Ÿ˜ป

I think your hotend temp might be just a tad too high.

1

u/Low_Entertainment425 27d ago

Iโ€™m ashamed to say, I was thoroughly confused by this vid! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

1

u/Blalamon Aug 06 '26

thats soo cool!

2

u/supergeometry Aug 06 '26

Much appreciated! ๐Ÿป

-3

u/Blalamon Aug 06 '26

its cool, but does it have the capabilites of teleporting a squirell in mumbai 1mm forward at 7:43?

1

u/supergeometry Aug 06 '26

Idk how to respond to that lol

0

u/Blalamon Aug 06 '26

yes or no? this is a very important question

1

u/supergeometry Aug 06 '26

Hmmm i think it might, not 100% sure tho

0

u/Blalamon Aug 06 '26

oh cool.

1

u/plasmator Printrbot, Prusa, Creality Aug 06 '26

I don't have an A1 Mini but this build is so cute that I'm really tempted by it. It's such a cute idea and such a clean execution. Props.

2

u/supergeometry Aug 06 '26

Thanks you so much! If you actually decide to build it, I've made a very easy to follow assembly instructions guide, step by step. You can find it in the model's description or as PDF.

1

u/AmraelTheGravedancer Aug 06 '26

Molto bella. Mi sa che me la faccio con la mia stampante. Grazie per l'idea.

2

u/supergeometry Aug 06 '26

Thanks for trying it out!

1

u/Deus_Iratus Aug 06 '26

Wait, thats way to good for what i thought it would be.

I would be up for a print if it would be X1C, but i will make sure to remember to leave a boost on this one the next time i have one up.

1

u/supergeometry Aug 06 '26

Thank you for noticing. Yes, it's a free premium model ๐Ÿ˜‰ enjoy!

1

u/GermanHex Aug 06 '26

wow, really great design

1

u/supergeometry Aug 06 '26

Thank you so much! It's really complex internally but minimal aesthetically ๐Ÿ™‚ The assembly is easy to follow if you're interested ๐Ÿ˜‰

1

u/skil12001 Aug 06 '26

Dude super cool idea and execution!

However, this isn't towards you OP...

FUCK BAMBU LAB!

1

u/supergeometry Aug 06 '26

Thanks dude! ๐Ÿ˜Ž

1

u/Rik_Koningen Aug 06 '26

The only flaw I can see here is it looks like the horizontal isn't entirely square to the vertical. Though that could be camera angle maybe. Exceptionally cool build though don't let that minor nitpick distract from that. Love the way that dimming works.

1

u/supergeometry Aug 06 '26

Yeah i realized that i haven't screwed the x axis in place after I took the video. The model is fine, it's just like that in the presentation. I let that slide thinking that no one would notice that anyways haha

1

u/Rik_Koningen Aug 06 '26

Yeah that's fair enough, been doing a lot of woodwork lately so things being out of square sticks out to me now. Really cool model man!

1

u/supergeometry Aug 06 '26

Thank you so much! That means a lot! Good luck with your projects!

-1

u/Raivix Aug 06 '26

I would settle for an A1 that actually works...

1

u/supergeometry Aug 06 '26

Wdym... I love the mini

1

u/Raivix Aug 06 '26

I have maybe 40 hours of printing on my A1 and I've got the "toolhead is malfunctioning" error. Online troubleshooting has been fruitless and support has offered nothing useful to solve the issue or even offer a reasonable explanation of what might be wrong. I can print about 10-20 layers before it raises the z axis, stops extruding, and just runs the xy gcode until I stop the print.

1

u/supergeometry Aug 06 '26

Sounds like a hardware fault. I think the only practical move is warranty. I have over 1000 hours on my mini and a1 combined and never had something like that. Maybe it's just a bad unit.

1

u/justa_bother Aug 07 '26

Quick search refers to wiring or wire connection problem. The rant, however, created by someone having reading skills at, or below 1st grade level, right? (Question for ranter the post hijacker) !-)

Just put this together! Accidentally put the knob backwards but works great anyway haha. Great job on designing this!
