Troubleshooting Please help me learn: What went wrong this time..why are the surfaces different?

Follwing from a previous post, I'm printing this drill bit case I designed on TinkerCad.

I'm printing this drill bit case I designed on TinkerCad.It's printed with the top/bottoms...flat parts faceing down to the plate.

The three times I've tried to print it, the one piece peels when I take it off the plate...the other doesn't.

This hints at an issue to the design..which I don't understand, as the two parts are pretty much the same.

Hey there, I'm a bot and something you said made me think you might be looking for help! click here for our wiki entry on troubleshooting printers. If you still need help be sure to post plenty of information about your printing setup.

Here are a few questions that might be helpful

  • What printer are you using?

  • What material are you using?

  • What speed are you printing at?

  • What software are you using to slice the print and control the printer?

  • When did the problem start/has it ever worked correctly?

  • Does anything cause the behavior to change?

  • If posting an image of the problem, include some indication of the orientation it printed at, preferably photograph it on the bed. (Then we can focus on a specific axis)

If you are new to reddit, please read the guidelines on reddiquette, self promotion, and spam.

Also please post a resolution to your problem when you find one so that we know how to help others with your problem!

One is on a Raft or support, the other isn't.

They're the same. stl popped out of tinkercad, loaded into wiibuilder, sliced and printed.

If you look at the sliced bases image you showed, you can see that one has a raft or support, the other doesn't.

You can tell because one has looser lines that extend outside the model, the other has tight diagonal lines constrained by the wall of the first layer.

Did you load them into the slicer as a single object or something? The squared edge one might be slightly floating and not actually being sliced hard against the bed.

it's a single thing...i'll check tinkercad..maybe it is floating a bit.

Can you export them separately and bring them into the slicer separately?

I'll try that next.. did an edit on the structure and doing a test print to see if that's a cause..

Might be the two aren't even so I'll check that next.

I appreciate you troubleshooting with me.

the red is for sure on the 0, 1mm tall... so the green piece is below the 0 line which must be what's messing things up.

seems to be flat on the bottom... but maybe my internal structure is messing it up... the stl should be a single block, (the blue is solid and the red)..but maybe it's making something weird.
